One of RFF’s founders, Caroline, is running the New York City Marathon on November 1st alongside her sister Jessica, raising awareness and funds for @tedysteam, founded by former NFL All Star, Tedy Bruschi, after he suffered two strokes.

But this is bigger than one race for the Nava family. Their dad ran six marathons in his lifetime, including the NYC Marathon twice.

In 2022, he had a stroke that impacted his ability to talk, walk, and perform daily tasks on his own, and it’s a huge part of why RFF exists today. Lacing up for Tedy’s Team felt like the obvious way to keep showing up for that fight in heart, mind, and body.

From Olympic royalty in Hockeytown to girls’ flag taking center stage, Detroit sports gave us plenty to celebrate this week. 💙

🏒💙 Hilary Knight Meets Hockeytown
Hilary Knight spent her first official week in Detroit as a PWHL Detroit star joining GM Manon Rhéaume for an intimate fireside chat with fans. The five-time Olympian and Team USA captain made it clear she’s ready to embrace Hockeytown and has her sights set on bringing a Walter Cup to Detroit.

🏈🦁 Lions Get Their First Win
The Lions picked up their first win of the preseason, beating the Washington Commanders 17–13 at Ford Field. With most of Detroit’s biggest stars sitting, the defense impressed while Josh Dobbs broke off a 50-yard touchdown run as players continued making their cases for a spot on the final roster.

🏈💗 Girls’ Flag Takes Center Stage
Some of Michigan’s top girls’ flag football players took over Wayne State for the Girls’ Flag Football Showcase, kicking off the annual Prep Kickoff Classic. Two-time state champ St. Joseph topped L’Anse Creuse North 20–7, while Gibraltar Carlson shut out Redford Thurston 26–0, with DJ Myint bringing the beats as one of the state’s fastest-growing sports took center stage.

💍🏀 Duncan Robinson Says “I Do”
Duncan Robinson married longtime love Caroline Nava, adding another celebration to the Pistons family. Robinson returned to Michigan last season to join Detroit after beginning his NBA career in Miami, making this a full-circle chapter for the former Wolverine.

From new beginnings to big wins, there’s a lot happening in Detroit sports right now. 🙌

Officially halfway through training for the @nycmarathon! 🎉

This year, my sister and I will be running and fundraising together for @tedysteam in honor of our mom. Just like our mom supports our dad in his recovery, Tedy’s Team supports stroke and heart disease survivors by giving them the resources they need to make a comeback. ❤️
