An integrative, person-centred approach to physiotherapy and wellness in the heart of Perth

You’d think self-development, therapy and self-awareness practices would make difficult times easier

In some ways they do

Although you actually feel it all more deeply

You can understand exactly what’s happening

recognise the patterns you repeat

know all the tools and still sit there thinking

this really fucking sucks

It just burns. There may be no reframe that makes it all go away

The win isn’t that it hurts less.

It’s that you can feel all of it

be honest about how much it sucks

and still stay on your process

Not perfectly. Not without bad days.

But without completely losing yourself in it

I enjoy coaching and mentoring athletes

dealing with injuries seems to have become a specialty I didn’t ask for

Having experienced this process myself a few times

I understand how challenging it can be to manage the uncertainty, frustration and shifts in identity that come with being unable to do what you love

Performance coaching offers a space to work through that side of the process

develop the tools to navigate setbacks

and approach your return with greater clarity on your process and purpose to drive you

It takes courage to sit with another person who will mirror back to us the things we might not see in ourselves

Our blind spots, our limiting beliefs and the patterns that can hold us back

Rehabilitation isn’t just physical. The mental side deserves equal if not more attention

If you’re an athlete navigating injury and want support with the mental side of your return, feel free to reach out

Or forward this to Sombody you feel it may resonate with. 🙏❤️‍🔥

After my leg break in 2022, I was forced to do a lot of work on myself.

I had to learn compassion. I had to learn how to treat myself like somebody I loved.

I was exhausted and burnt out from a process I eventually realised was damaging my self-esteem and self-worth.

For years, criticism and internal self-abuse were the way I knew how to make myself move.

I was afraid to be kind to myself.

I thought if I stopped being hard on myself, I might lose the part of me that helped me get early success.

One particular fight after my return, I just couldn’t quite pull the trigger.

The kill switch didn’t flick on.

I lost.

Afterwards, at the Airbnb I had a conversation with one of my corner men and friend Marko.

I remember crying and saying to him, “Maybe that’s it. Maybe I’ve trained that instinct out of myself. Maybe I don’t have that switch anymore.”

That cut deep.

It felt like I had betrayed a younger version of myself who had promised he would do anything to see how far he could go.

It felt like I had broken an inner agreement with my younger self.

It felt messy, but the choice I made was to trust balance.

I kept going. I tried again.

These moments are from the fights that followed that loss.

I learnt that I don’t have to believe every thought that enters my head.

I learnt not to attach myself to my doubts.

A thought is a thought. A feeling is a feeling.

They all come and go.

We don’t have to attach to any story.

We always have another choice.

Another way to respond.

Another way to move.

Another opportunity to choose who and how we want to be.

If you don’t like what’s in front of you, choose again.

We have unlimited choices.

Stay open to life!
Your nervous system receives the information from your body’s posture and movement patterns.
Getting people moving and flowing freely, helping to feel calm and safe within their bodies and opening their hearts is something that gives me purpose and brings me so much joy.

This was an incredible moment for me at a @cold_nips event earlier in the year. Thank you for capturing this @ryansexpression. It’s always an honour to serve and facilitate alongside you. With live music by @mmatayu played here.

In the coming days @stuart_watkins_ and I have a very exciting event to announce for the Perth community.

Stay tuned! ❤️‍🔥
