Table Conversations | Beyond Visibility A room full of stories. A table full of perspectives. And conversations that brought them all together. At our table, we discussed the resources available to artists, explored roadmaps to accessing funding, and the importance of building supportive creative communities. One of the most meaningful parts was hearing everyone's why — the stories, motivations, and journeys behind their creative pursuits. Because visibility is just the beginning. Connections, knowledge, and community help us move forward. @pbs12_co @watson_inst @arvadacenter @kennethkingfoundation @co_creatives @artbybala . . . #SouthAsianDiaspora #artists #basecamp #explorepage

Feeling so incredibly lucky and grateful to have spent the last four days with @co_creatives CO Change Leader Program. We learned so much, we deep hanged, we explored a haunted hotel, soaked in hot springs, created collaboratively, danced hip hop, practiced yoga, walk and talked, ate too many desserts, and created genuine connections between creatives across the state. Immense gratitude to @libby.barbee @molinaspeaks and @tanyamarinamote for facilitating and big love to my cohort ❤️❤️

Our @co_creatives division announced the Creative Aging Project Grant, a new initiative that supports access to the arts for older adults to enhance well-being, physical and cognitive abilities and overall quality of life as people age. The program is designed to foster health, lifelong learning and social connections through sequential arts classes. Tap the link in our bio to learn how the Creative Aging Project Grant empowers older adults to develop artistic skills and strengthens Colorado’s creative workforce 👆 A variety of colorful paintbrushes are aligned at the bottom of a poster. Above them, bold text reads "Expanding Arts Access," with a subheading: "New Creative Aging Program Supports Older Adults Through the Arts." The poster includes the logo for Colorado Creative Industries at the top.

As a @co_creatives council member I joined the staff in Washington, D.C. for the NASAA Assembly Conference, where state arts agencies and the NEA came together to share ideas! My big takeaways: 🎨 Make your projects relevant and local. NEA funding is holding steady, but it’s still under threat. Elected officials want to know how their constituents benefit. In Colorado, the creative sector contributes nearly $20 billion to the economy and supports 120,000 jobs… in part due to NEA funds. 🧓 Improve “joy-span.” Creative aging programs help older adults feel connected and remembered. Colorado is an aging state, so there’s real opportunity here for new programs. 📣 Be an advocate. Get aligned with your allies, lead with local stories, and go where the conversations are hard. We don’t need to spend additional time talking to supporters, go talk to people who are not engaged with creative industries. Invite them to your meetings, conferences, etc… 💬 Be better marketers. The arts structure is not legible to power structures. Governments and economic development agencies are fundamentally different than arts agencies, and do not understand soft “arts” references. Be specific —“Collage making helps seniors ward off memory loss” lands better than “arts programming.” #NASAA #NEA #ArtsAdvocacy #gjcreates @co_creatives

As Colorado marks its 150th anniversary of statehood, we’re reflecting not just on our state’s rich history, but on what will make our local communities vibrant, resilient, and prosperous for the next 150 years. 🌲🎨 Did you know? According to 2025 data from Americans for the Arts, arts increase neighborhood safety. Creative infrastructure—from local art centers and historic performance venues to public murals and cultural districts—is a proven driver of neighborhood vitality and economic strength. Here is why supporting neighborhood arts offer a powerful way to honor Colorado’s legacy and future: •Honoring Local Heritage and Identity: Public art and cultural spaces tell Colorado’s unique stories, preserving local history while building a distinct sense of place. •Fueling Neighborhood Main Streets: Cultural venues and events bring residents and visitors directly to surrounding local shops, restaurants, and small businesses. •Strengthening Civic Connection: Community arts programs bring neighbors together, fostering local pride, connection, and engagement across towns and cities statewide. Celebrating 150 years of statehood is about more than looking back—it’s about investing in the cultural engines that build strong, thriving neighborhoods today. Link in bio to learn about how OEDIT champions the industries that make Colorado unique 👆 Dark blue infographic with dark blue letters outlined in light blue titled Commemorating Colorado 250/150, with the Colorado State logo and the Colorado 150 logo at the top right corner. The headline reads: “Arts in Colorado” surrounded by different images of arts, murals and Red Rocks amphitheater. The body text reads: “Creative infrastructure—from local art centers and historic performance venues to public murals and cultural districts—is a proven driver of neighborhood vitality and economic strength across the Centennial State". Additional text at the bottom says, more information historycolorado.org/colorado-150 with the OEDIT logo at the bottom right corner.
