First Olympics šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦

It’s going to take a while to let it really set in… The Olympics have been a long time dream of mine and there’s been quite the journey to get here.

To the athletes I have the honour to work with daily, I am continuously in awe of your ambition and drive to accept nothing but the best from yourselves! Your grit and determination is unparalleled. It has been my privilege getting to know all of you and your unique stories that have lead you up to this moment. Thank you for trusting me to be in your corner.

To the team behind the team, we were a village! Grateful for all I’ve learned and continue to learn being apart of our IST.

To my friends and family, your endless support and understanding has meant more than you’ll ever know.

To Alex, what an adventure it’s been! Thank you for chasing this goal with me.

** (Side note - I just noticed this post has a song attached to it and I have no idea why and can’t take it off haha)

When the worst case scenario becomes your reality, you have to live in it but, you do not have to die by it. Living with a disappointment knowing you have to go out and try again instinctively makes you want to give up. However, sitting in those emotions though allows you to process and realize that nothing is ever over until it’s over. Lean on your trusted team, be honest and truthful with the pains of reality and make a plan.

@coach.jer @jillmoffatt and I pride ourselves on always being honest, true, and never EVER giving up. We come away with 8th, a good ways off the podium.

Accepting that number is stings but realizing the hole we pulled ourselves out of makes me proud to be apart of such a special LW3x and Canadian.

The support that poured in after our disappointing semi final took me completely by surprise. I have never felt the nation behind me like I did yesterday. That was insane. Honestly, I can’t quite get over it. I had no idea Canadians were watching and could connect so purely to the disappointment and struggles we were facing.

The messages that poured in turned us around and reminded us that yes, we may have let ourselves down, but we will not back down. Having our country at our backs reminded us that, as Canadians, we know we can figure it out. As Canadians, we are gritty, determined and we, along with all of you, can put together a race we are proud of.

To those who watched and cheered, that race was because of you. If you can do an ounce of that for our girls tomorrow in the @rowingcanada woman’s 8 and the rest of our exceptional @teamcanada athletes, the country will be unstoppable.

YOU are team Canada, each and every supporter. You made a difference in my life and my ability and I know you can do the same for the rest of the countries top athletes.

Thank you for being a nation I am honoured to call home ā¤ļøšŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦ā¤ļø
