THE COLLECTIVE | INDIVIDUALIZED DEVELOPMENT. TEAM-WIDE IMPACT. Different athletes. Different movement strategies. Different needs. One common goal — maximize each player’s potential. The Collective brought together Nomad Baseball, K9 Baseball Development, Casey White, and Propel Hitting for a comprehensive team assessment with North Gwinnett High School Baseball. Our focus went beyond collecting data. We evaluated each athlete through motor preference assessments and force plate testing to better understand how they naturally move, produce force, and organize their bodies. But the real value is in the IMPLEMENTATION. Taking that information, educating players and coaches, and showing them how to apply it to individualized training, player development, and the overall baseball program. Because the goal isn’t to make every athlete move the same. It’s to understand what makes each athlete different and build a development process around it. Four groups. One Goal! Huge thank you to North Gwinnett High School for trusting The Collective with their athletes and program. #thecollective #motorpreferencesexperts #playerdevelopment #northgwinettbaseball

Proud Moment @parsons_sports_ranch where Ty hit his FIRST home run! This kid has been working hard everyday, every year to get better. Not to be the best right now but gradually improving day by day in whatever sport he is playing at the time. Most times it’s two sports at a time. It shows that with the right work ethic and coaches believing and pushing you to better yourself that great things can happen! @nbeavers22 @evanmistich9 @codymcramer @coachschweiss @tobinoler @nomad_baseball @tpabaseballtx

When an athlete is struggling to gain weight, we have to look deeper than simply telling them to eat more. Eating more may be the goal, but if the athlete is rarely hungry, we need to understand why. Stress, training demands, sleep, recovery, and their overall physiological state may all influence appetite. The answer is not always found by adding more food. Sometimes, it begins by understanding what is preventing the athlete from wanting it. #SportsPerformance #AthleteNutrition #SportsNutrition #AthleteDevelopment #StrengthAndConditioning

Grant Gould Uncommitted Gap Year Athlete GG is one of my favorite athletes I’ve ever worked with. He’s without a doubt been the hardest worker I’ve ever been around. He does every single thing the right way. His gap year has paid big dividends gaining weight, getting stronger, increasing every metric, and anything you can name he improved it. He is going to be an incredible get for any program and I would recommend this kid to anyone. High baseball Iq, extremely great human being, and just continues to keep getting better. Proud of you dude. Keep it up.

Craig Counsell had one of the most iconic batting stances of all time. His signature high hands were something baseball hadn’t really seen before, and they left a lasting impression on every kid who tried to mimic his stance in the backyard. When we see movement patterns like this, especially ones that feel completely different from anything we’ve seen before, we tend to write them off. We say, “That’s just him,” or “He’s one of one,” and assume no one else could ever move that way. And while every movement pattern is absolutely unique to the individual, I believe we should be careful not to dismiss outlier patterns as random one-offs. Instead, we should ask better questions: Why does this athlete move this way? What does it allow them to access? What problem is this solving for them? Through the MP lens, Counsell’s high hands and vertical forearms are something we would typically associate with a more vertical setup. But when you actually watch him load, he brings his hands down and creates a more horizontal load. From there, he’s able to produce his signature one-hand finish across his body, which is something we often see from more horizontal movers. This is something I see quite a bit with hitters. They may prefer to start out of their preference, then move into preference during the load. That transition is where the swing begins to organize around what they need. To me, Counsell’s stance is a great example of the wide spectrum of motor preferences. Different athletes can accomplish the same task in completely different ways, and what looks “weird” on the surface may actually be solving something very specific for that athlete. I have never tested Craig Counsell, and I do not know what his exact preferences are. This is simply what it looks like observationally. Please refer to @motorpreferencesexperts for all information regarding motor preferences.
