Triple Jump Breakdown Pt 87 ft @owen_turner07 and @coachseif101
.
Relaxed is the way
.
Some notes:
1)
Through relaxation, we can achieve more range of motion, and get the most out of our jumps. My best jumps, I wasn’t pressing, I wasn’t hyped up, I was fluid and relaxed. Go with the flow, and your body will follow
2)
Here, this jumper has good shapes, and his next step is to ease up through the first phase, get some more range of motion, and he’ll have more time to move his forces through the phases and be more efficient. It’ll feel easier, and he’ll see his distances tick up. There’s many ways to help attain this, and my favorite is bounding, since they teach teach so much about efficiency and are immediate feedback. Working on getting good range of motion and timing through bounding is an excellent next step for this jumper
3)
I harp on not trailing legs back often because it makes timing so much tighter. We need to get our knees up in front of us before landing, and there’s a lot of ways to get there too. Some cycle, some hang, but hanging back too long can throw off our timing. This jumper could benefit from some landing drills to work on his timing too - either w the chair drill or jumps into the hj pit (or both!)

Hear ye, hear ye. We have an All-American. Guess who climbed from 14th to ALL-AMERICAN off sheer will and determination in the 9G Triathlon… Miss Winter Ashford herself! Long post, but… here we go. So we never told Winter what place she was in. She PR’ed in both the high jump (thanks @coachseif101 ) and the shot put (putting in that work with @washford3) but she was still in 14th. I just kept asking her- “do you believe you can get on that podium” and she said “yes! I can do this”
And she ran the 200 and ran ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE LINE… and made All American by 1 point. Literally 1. Tell me Winter Ashford isn’t magic. Tell me she isn’t blessed. I’ll tell you you’re wrong….
