🔥🏀 3-0! TITANS MEN STAY PERFECT! 🏀🔥

THREE GAMES. THREE WINS. UNBEATEN.

Coach Will Reid’s men continue their perfect start to the NBL Division Three season with another impressive victory!

The Titans came out FIRING, dominating the opening quarter 30-8! 😤

💥 BARDEN BRINGS THE BOOM!

Big man James Barden exploded for 8 POINTS IN JUST 2 MINUTES, showing the offensive firepower this Titans side possesses!

🔥 TOP SCORERS

🏀 Ash Kitchen — 15 PTS
🏀 James Barden — 15 PTS
🏀 Merson Paul — 12 PTS
🏀 Jeremiah Abimbola — 12PTS

Kitchen continues his consistent form, Merson brought his trademark flair, while Big Jerry continues to grow into his role! 📈

🎙️ COACH WILL REID:

“A real Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde performance. First quarter we were outstanding, but by the fourth we’d lost some of that intensity.

If we’re serious about where we want to go this season, that first-quarter standard has to become our identity for all 40 minutes.

That said, we’re making genuine progress. Defensively, we showed real quality, and seeing more of our rotation guys finding their rhythm offensively is a massive positive.

We’re 3-0, and the players deserve credit for that. But we know there’s another level in this group. We’ll enjoy a rare Saturday off, recover and get back to work.”

3-0 IS THE RECORD. CONSISTENCY IS THE GOAL.

THE STANDARD DOESN’T CHANGE. 😤🔥

🏀ORANGE SHOW FIGHT BUT HOODS TAKE THE WIN! 🏀

PROGRESS ISN’T ALWAYS MEASURED BY THE SCOREBOARD! 📈🔥

After picking up their first win of the season last weekend, Coach Matt Waley’s U18 Orange welcomed Nottingham Hoods to Northampton looking to build on that momentum!

And the Titans came out READY! 😤

🔥 High energy

💪 Winning the first quarter

Orange picked up exactly where they left off last weekend, showing confidence, intensity and some serious improvement on both ends of the floor.

But basketball is a game of runs! 🏀

Hoods responded strongly, taking quarters two and three and forcing the Titans to chase the game heading into the fourth.

Despite battling until the final buzzer, Orange eventually fell by 10 points in a competitive contest.

🏀 HOW SHOULD YOU WARM UP FOR BASKETBALL?

A good warm-up is more than jogging and stretching. Research supports a progressive, dynamic and basketball-specific approach.

Here’s the structure 👇

1️⃣ RAISE YOUR TEMPERATURE 🔥
3–5 minutes of jogging, skipping, shuffles and progressive accelerations. Gradually increase body temperature and cardiovascular readiness.

2️⃣ MOVE THROUGH RANGE 🦵
Use dynamic mobility rather than prolonged static stretching:
• Leg swings
• Walking lunges
• Hip & ankle mobility
• Dynamic hamstring/calf movements

3️⃣ SWITCH ON THE NERVOUS SYSTEM ⚡
Prepare for jumping, landing and changing direction:
• Single-leg balance
• Controlled landings
• Pogo jumps
• Low-level hops
• Landing mechanics

Neuromuscular warm-ups can also help reduce lower-extremity injury risk.

4️⃣ MAKE IT LOOK LIKE BASKETBALL 🏀
Progress into defensive slides, closeouts, backpedalling, accelerations, decelerations and changes of direction.

5️⃣ GET EXPLOSIVE 💥
Finish with a small amount of high-quality work:
• Short accelerations
• A few jumps
• Reactive movements
• Potentially PAPE work

The goal is readiness, not fatigue.

6️⃣ ADD THE BALL 🏀
Progress from form shooting → movement shooting → layups → game-speed actions.

Ball work prepares you technically and perceptually, but shouldn’t replace the physical warm-up.

7️⃣ DON’T GET COLD ❄️
If there’s a delay before playing, use short periods of movement, dynamic exercises, accelerations or jumps to stay ready.

🏀 Basketball-specific work

You don’t need fancy equipment. You need a progressive warm-up that prepares you for what basketball actually demands.

📚 Based on evidence including systematic reviews, meta-analyses and basketball-specific research on dynamic stretching, neuromuscular warm-ups, plyometrics, PAPE and re-warm-up.

Save this for your next session.
