Our Youth Philanthropy Council took their first steps into a new year of grant making! 🧡

Students heard directly from last year's grantees and learned how their funding decisions have continued to create impact throughout our community—from supporting educational opportunities and college access to creating meaningful experiences for children and families.

More importantly, they got an inside look at the realities of nonprofit work: the challenges organizations face, the opportunities they pursue, and the dedication it takes to serve others well.

As they begin making decisions about this year's grants, our students are already learning an important lesson: philanthropy isn't just about giving money—it's about investing in people and the future of our community.
We're excited to see where this year's grant-making journey leads. 🚀

Big news for Birmingham! 🏡

Park Street Homes and Community Development is proud to move forward with a new housing development following approval from the Birmingham City Council.

The project will bring 31 new single-family homes to the former Hill School site, including 11 affordable homes—transforming vacant land into new opportunities for homeownership and helping strengthen the surrounding community.

This $1 million investment represents more than new construction. It’s about revitalizing neighborhoods, expanding access to quality housing, and investing in Birmingham’s future.

Building homes. Strengthening communities. Creating opportunity.

A Good Day at ShadowBrook 🏡✨

Last week, GROWTH hosted a Broker’s Open at ShadowBrook, welcoming several Realtors to connect with the GROWTH team, tour the homes, and discover what this growing community has to offer.

It’s exciting to see ShadowBrook continue to grow and become home for more families. There’s so much more to come! 🏡✨

Economic mobility is not accidental. It is DESIGNED.

We brought together local and national leaders for an Economic Mobility Summit right here in Birmingham.

For too long, a person's zip code has predicted their future. But by tackling the interconnected systems that drive opportunity, Birmingham is proving what happens when policy, philanthropy, and community actually move together. We are so proud that our city's economic development ecosystem is becoming a national blueprint.

To our amazing partners, sponsors, and attendees: thank you. Thank you for showing up, rolling up your sleeves, and doing the hard work to build the next chapter of American cities.

This event was a massive catalyst, but the work is just getting started. Follow along as we dig into the data, unpack the insights, and share more from the summit over the coming weeks! #EconomicMobility #BirminghamHasMore Three smiling people posing closely together in front of a brightly colored, hand-drawn mural depicting houses and the word "BIRMINGHAM".
