6 festivals and counting! 🎭✨

We’re beyond proud to announce that USELESS has been selected for its 6th festival! Huge thanks to @thegreatfilmclub this incredible opportunity.

📍 Eastwood Performing Arts Center, Los Angeles CA
🗓 October 22nd | 8:00 PM

In a fast-paced, consumer-driven world, two devices from different technological eras meet at the end of their lifespan to reflect on the precious moment when they still felt useful.

USELESS is more than a story about discarded objects—it’s a powerful metaphor for the people we leave behind in a society where even human beings can be deemed obsolete.

The future of the field is decided by who builds it. And this group is bringing some bold ideas to the mix.

Meet the 12 creators joining us in Los Angeles for our next XR Impact Creators Lab, five days of hands-on work with extended reality (XR) tools, hosted by Agog and Arizona State University's Center for Narrative and Emerging Media (NEM).

Most of this cohort lives and works in Los Angeles, and much of what they make is already about this place: migration to South Central, Black care traditions, Salvadoran memory, the city's own archives. For many, this lab is a first sustained step into XR; for others, it is a chance to deepen an emerging immersive practice. Over five days they will build technical fluency to carry that work into immersive form, and leave with collaborators who are working on the same questions.

We can’t wait to kick off the week and learn alongside this cohort. Congrats to all of them.

Before the film reaches the screen, there’s an idea, a vision, and a whole lot of work behind it.

At the Simi Valley HHF Film Showcase, we’re getting to know the filmmakers behind the films — how their stories developed, what inspired them, and what it took to bring the vision from concept to screen.

This is where we go beyond the screening and into the story behind the story.

Meet the filmmaker. 🎬
