✨ THIS IS WHAT A SEPTEMBER WEEKEND DISCO SESSION LOOKS LIKE IN THE EAST END… 🪩✨

Smiles, sparkles, dancers, mirror balls and six hours of proper disco business. 💃🕺

A little look back at the last time @meltingpotglasgow x Let’s Go Back To The 80’s got together at BaaD, before we do it all again at @drygateglasgow on Saturday 26th, September Weekend. ❤️

70s disco into 80s dancefloor magic, played loud on that L-Acoustics soundsystem, with dancers, balloons, a huge mirror ball and the terrace open as we see out the summer together. ☀️🎈

Peter Lilly, director of the short film "This Is Who We Are," reflects on the impact of screening his film at the Sundar Prize Film Festival 2025. Addressing the realities of Palestine, he shares that while filmmaking can feel small in the face of such a large global tragedy, the conversations sparked through festival screenings, panels, and audience discussions offer hope that art and storytelling can help raise awareness and move people toward meaningful change.

🏆 Best Documentary Film – This Is Who We Are

Congratulations to “This Is Who We Are” for winning Best Documentary at the Vancouver International Youth Film Festival! 🛹🏆

About the film:
This documentary is about the vibrant skateboarding culture in Palestine, shedding light on a side of the community that we rarely see, especially in the current climate.

With the assistance of skatepal, a non-profit organisation dedicated to building skateparks, providing equipment, and coaching for Palestinian children, we aimed to showcase the generosity, warmth, and shared interests of the Palestinian people.

Skateboarding, often considered a universal language, has brought together kids from diverse backgrounds, teaching them valuable skills and fostering a sense of community. The documentary not only captures the positive impact of skatepal’s initiatives but also delves into the broader efforts of re:ply, an organization working to make skateboarding more accessible in Palestine by recycling boards and hosting workshops. Skateboards are not easily accessible in Palestine as there are no skate shops, and getting product in and out of the country is not an easy task, so re:ply’s sustainable practices were a huge benefit to the skateboarding scene in Palestine.

Our documentary aims to dispel stereotypes and showcase the universal love for skateboarding that transcends cultural and geographical boundaries.
