POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Every year, our team gathers for a staff retreat. This year, we spent the day at Reedy Creek Park slowing down and enjoying our time together without an agenda.

We were grateful to hear from Kiera DesChamps of KD Consulting Group, who reminded us that how we show up for others starts with how we pour into ourselves.

We also couldn’t have had a day this sweet without our vendors! @small_city_farm_charlotte donated flowers so our team could build their own bouquets, @palmettosweetsco kept us stocked with treats, @got.bru kept us caffeinated all day, and @codyscaricatures drew caricatures of our team members along with a full group drawing we’ll keep for years to come.

Thank you to everyone who made this year’s retreat one to remember!

This weekend i attended a preview of the @charlottemimosafest and got to try out some bites and drinks from local businesses. Most of them were new to me and I’m very happy to have found some new vegan options!

Besides drinks and food, they also had caricatures, a business that engraved some cups (didn’t get a picture 😭) and a really good DJ (shoutout to @djshogun13)!

If you know me you know I love to support local businesses and events like this are so amazing for discovering new ones I can add to my personal list.

🪥 I went to Shambhala mostly to paint on people, and the main thing I learned is that toothbrushes are the best kind of brush

I also learned how to dance, and possibly forgot? We'll see.

The flow state is my favorite way to experience life; when I enter it and stop thinking/planning that's when I do my best artwork.

For a really long time, I've wanted to be able to do the same thing with my body, just let it move to the music the same way my brushes can while I'm painting abstract textures

Turns out a week of EDM rave jamming was just the intensity I needed to break through the mind-booty barrier, and achieve flow state with the beats 🎵🎶

I'm excited to paint people at more festivals, where should I go next?

Inspired by #edwardsorel

Clients saw the epic #mural he painted for #monkeybarnyc , and wanted something similar done to put up at their wedding

Process was a 50% scale fully hand painted black and white mural (on my own walls lol), colored mostly digitally, and then they printed it out to put up at the #biltmore for their wedding!

It was cool to work on something for so long, then kind of forget about it for a month (if you're an artist you know how you need your eyes to 'take a break' after a long piece before you can appreciate it')

Kind of worked out perfectly, because I like this a lot, definitely makes it past my inner #caricature critic!

🎩 It's been almost three weeks since I spent the day drawing guests at the mint museum's derby days, presented by the @youngaffiliates of the @themintmuseum 🌹

this is ny third year doing caticatures for it and I always have a lot of fun putting some extra flair on the drawings (everyone comes so dressed up. 💃)

I was inspired to make this reel after I saw all the really cool photos that the wildly talented @shawns.view took that day and posted (almost all the ones of me were taken by him) and a fun clip from @clt.living
as well :)

Temporary tattoo sleeves for festivals, events, and anyone who wants to wear color for a weekend. these are from a week at @relatefulcompany camp where i painted on every human who let me. I don't know how many of these there are, but you can count if you want. I don't like counting.

So a little bit about my process: there isn't one. I have colors and combinations and textures and inspirations inside my head that I like. And that's what I let come out when i'm painting on people. It truly doesn't feel like it's coming from me. And I know that sounds generic and cliche, and you probably don't believe me. But that's just the truth. In fact, it so much doesn't feel like me that I have never really incorporated this kind of artwork, much into the work that I share with everyone. Because it doesn't feel like "I" am doing it, i think my ego actually resists it. So I like to just start drawing on someone and if they want something specific I can do that. But the best thing is, when people are like, yeah, just draw whatever you want. And I feel like I actually do get some of their energy. I make something that makes sense on them and their body

if you want to be painted on, let me know. if you know anyone booking entertainment at festivals, please send them my way 🎨
