There’s something quietly powerful about walking into a museum and finding an artist who’s been waiting to be seen properly again. Today, @museovillabassi in Abano Terme opens Andrea Previtali, disciple of Giovanni Bellini. Previtali left the Valle Imagna as a young painter, stepped straight into Bellini’s Venice workshop, and proudly signed himself “Ioanis Bellini dissipulus.” You can feel that lineage in the Madonnas, the sacred conversations, the soft arcadian landscapes… and then watch it slowly become something entirely his own, shaped by Carpaccio, Giorgione, Dürer, and later the modern manner of Lorenzo Lotto. The real heart of the exhibition? After almost two centuries, the three panels of the Serina triptych (from the Church of the Annunziata) are finally together again. One of them has lived in the museum’s own Bassi Rathgeb collection for decades. Seeing the complete work whole is rare, and it hits differently. This isn’t just another Renaissance show. It’s a museum looking inward at its own collection, honouring the collector-scholar who rediscovered Previtali, and inviting us into the intimate world of the Renaissance workshop: techniques, dialogues, and all. The exhibition in #MuseoVillaBassiRathgeb is open from the 17 October 2026 until the 7 February 2027.

One night with Francis Picabia 🌙 Not your usual retrospective: tomorrow, @palazzorealemilano opens its doors to PICABIA. Aprire le porte della notte - and @girlsinmuseums was among the few that got to discover the exhibition during a special opening cocktail night! Painter, poet, Dadaist, and one of the most unpredictable artists of the 20th century. Picabia never played by the rules. Impressionism, Cubism, abstraction, Surrealism… he kept reinventing himself, refusing to be pinned down. This exhibition does the same. Instead of a chronological path, we’ve been invited to spend an imaginary night with him, from dusk till dawn. Each room is a different hour. Art, love, friendships, parties, pure creative chaos. With over 170 works, this is the largest Picabia show ever staged in Italy and it’s curated by Anne Berest Picabia, his descendant. A show that is worth visiting: intimate, unexpected, and completely free-spirited, just like him! #girlsinmuseums x @palazzorealemilano An exhibition by: @palazzorealemilano, @comunedimilano_cultura, @madeinartofficial Mostra Exhibition Milano Art Arte Cultura For @girlsinmuseums: @cofcamilla

What if Matisse’s studio was actually a map of the world? Today we had a first look at MATISSE, opening tomorrow at @mudec_official . We all know Matisse for colour, pattern and those unmistakable lines. But this exhibition asks us to look a little closer, and beyond the usual story. African art, Islamic arabesques, Russian icons, Chinese art, objects from the Pacific, Romanian textiles: #Matisse surrounded himself with forms and objects coming from different parts of the world, bringing them into his studios in Paris, Nice and Vence and, eventually, into his own visual language. And this is where the last exhibition by @24orecultura in this venue “Matisse. Il mondo in una stanza” title starts to make perfect sense: the world, quite literally, entered the room. Across around 100 works at #MUDEC Museo Delle Culture Milano, paintings, drawings and sculptures are shown alongside objects and textiles that belonged to or inspired the artist, revealing connections that can easily disappear behind the apparent ease and beauty of his images. Look out for the monumental Océanie, the iconic Jazz plates, works connected to the Chapel of the Rosary in Vence, and a series of photographs taken by Matisse himself in Morocco, including previously unpublished images. More than a Matisse retrospective, the exhibition is also an invitation to reconsider how encounters, exchanges (and appropriations) between cultures helped shape the language of modern art. Matisse. Stepping into the world of @patekphilippe #PPWatchArt2026 at CityOval feels less like visiting a watch exhibition and more like walking through time itself. Founded in Geneva in 1839 by Antoine Norbert de Patek, a Polish visionary who crossed Europe looking for excellence, the story truly begins when he meets Jean Adrien Philippe, the brilliant French watchmaker who invented the keyless winding system. No more lost keys, no more opening the case every time you wanted to set the hands. Just pure, elegant precision. From that encounter, Patek Philippe & Cie was born, and nearly two centuries later it remains the last independent, family-owned manufacture in Geneva, still guided by the Stern family. What you see here in Milan is the largest #PatekPhilippe’s Watch Art Grand Exhibition ever staged: over 500 timepieces, rare museum pieces that rarely leave Geneva, live demonstrations of enamelling, engraving, micro-wood marquetry, and those legendary supercomplications that make you stop and hold your breath. There is something quietly radical about watching centuries of craftsmanship unfold under the dome of the former Palazzo delle Scintille. Watches that once belonged to queens and inventors, side by side with pieces that still push the boundaries of what a mechanical movement can do. If you love objects that carry history in their smallest details, this is one of those rare moments when the past feels completely present. The exhibition is open until 18 October at CityOval, CityLife - Pro Tip: if you really love watches and want to take your time, skip the weekends and the crowds and visit the exhibition during weekdays. @girlsinmuseums x @patekphilippe #PatekTime Watches Watch Collection Watchmaking Exhibition Milan Art Arte Orologi For #girlsinmuseums: @cofcamilla

Watchmaking, art and beauty rarely sit this close together. At @milanowatchweek the dialogue is clear: independent makers and historic maisons sharing the same space at Palazzo Mezzanotte, Piazza Affari, from today until Sunday 4th October with a partnership with @poldipezzoli that lasts until the 11th. Over fifty brands. Complications that reveal their architecture the moment you look closer. Finishing that rewards slow observation. Design decisions that feel closer to sculpture than to industrial product. The connection between haute horlogerie and art has always existed in the craft itself in the proportions of a dial, the geometry of a movement, the way light moves across hand-finished surfaces. Here that connection is simply made visible. For all the #girlsinmuseums who are also all things watches obsessed: don’t miss this year edition of #MilanoWatchWeek! @girlsinmuseums x #MWW26 #PalazzoMezzanotte @poldipezzoli Watches Watch Collection Watchmaking Exhibition Milan Art Arte Orologi For girlsinmuseums: @cofcamilla

OPENING TODAY: 1000 Tears at @gamec_bergamo, the very first solo show in Italy by Selma Selman @selman.selma. We walked out feeling like someone had gently opened a door we didn’t even know was closed. It’s all about the eye.
A mother’s hand covering a child’s eyes so she wouldn’t see what no child should ever see.
A gaze still carrying the darkness of that moment, thirty years later.
Personal memories that become collective. Hands that protect, hold, hide… and sometimes refuse to let go. Selma turns her family’s story, her community’s story, her own tears into something so tender and powerful at the same time. You don’t just look at the works: you feel them looking back at you. She does more: through “Letters to Omer” - published entirely for the first time by @curamagazine - she makes so clear how much a personal story can open onto much broader questions: family, belonging, distance, expectations, and the possibility of choosing one’s own future. The show opens to the public today and is running until the 24 January 2027, and we already know we’re going back.
A not-to-be-missed show in Bergamo. Take a friend. Take your time. Let it stay with you. Drop a 🖤 if this already touched you too. Thank you so much #GAMeCbergamo for having us! @gamec_bergamo @comunedibergamo @clubgamec @_lorenzogiusti @chakulamaji #girlsinmuseums x @gamec_bergamo @larafacco_press Mostra Exhibition Bergamo Art Arte Cultura For #girlsinmuseums: @cofcamilla

#girlsinmuseums-gramming at the preview of “I #Brueghel. Le origini dei generi pittorici in Europa” at Palazzo Reale - OPENING TOMORROW! This is the first major Italian exhibition dedicated to the Brueghel dynasty founded by Pieter the Elder, his sons Pieter the Younger and Jan - the family that basically invented the painting genres we still love today: landscape, still life, everyday life, battles and extremely specific details. Over 80 works. Three generations. One surname that became a brand long before brands existed. And yes, there’s a Milan connection: Jan Brueghel spent time here as guest of Cardinal Federico Borromeo, and some of those delicate flower pieces from the Ambrosiana are waiting for you! The exhibition opens to the public tomorrow, 29 September, and runs until 31 January 2027. If you love getting lost in details, crowded scenes that feel almost cinematic, and that quiet thrill of standing in front of something that changed how we look at the world… this one’s for you.
