For thousands of years, the lands and waters of Iluulux̂ (Unalaska) have sustained life. But beneath the tundra lies a complex legacy impacted by World War II.

Here’s a first look at our upcoming mini-documentary series looking at Project Hope, a One Health research initiative by the Qawalangin Tribe, the City of Unalaska, and UAF.

Project Hope brings together local knowledge-bearers and researchers to find community-driven solutions to monitor Formerly Used Defense Sites (FUDS). By combining Traditional Ecological Knowledge with scientific research, this project helps local harvesters gather traditional foods with confidence.

So grateful to have been part of @ashleyinezz beautiful film. Walking onto that set as a young actress, I didn’t know what to expect — but every single person made me feel comfortable, seen, and welcome. @natalie_benally @worldsshittiestindian @razellebenally That means everything when it’s so hard to feel like you belong in this industry as a young indigenous girl.

And to see “The Light That Stays” take home SEVEN awards?! 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆 Beyond deserved. I’m in awe of this team.
