A year without Paige. 12 months of navigating life without a sister. 365 days of trying to figure out how to step in as aunt and “mom” and friend.

Not a day goes by that she isn’t missed, talked about, and her impact isn’t felt.

At times grief feels like a part of you has been amputated. Just like losing an actual limb, you feel and experience the loss everyday. It may not be obvious, but we are all limping along, missing a piece of us. I don’t see as well without her. I don’t hear as well without her. I don’t feel as well without her. I still feel a stab of pain when I see sisters together, because she is supposed to be here.

I think we will be grieving forever. We will heal in certain ways and move forward, but will never be the same. Although I wouldn’t want to be the same person and I’m good with that. Her absence has shaped and influenced others almost as much as her presence. For me, I see the world differently now, I love differently, and I rely on Jesus more than ever.

Paige was a no nonsense type of gal and she wouldn’t want sympathy from everyone. She would want us to do something. She would want you to see raising children as one of the highest callings, she would probably tell you to stop making excuses for the things you want to accomplish, She would want you to embrace the chaos of motherhood, she would tell you to love and respect your husband, and encourage you to grow in your relationship with Jesus and take care of your body!

One year and forever to go, but we’re doing it! One day at a time. All together! Love y’all 🤍

Last night, our friends threw a little going away get together for us before we pack up on Wednesday. To say we love these people right here is an understatement. When we moved here 7 years ago, we didn’t have any friends or family. We took a risk relationship-wise, trusting that if God was calling us to a place, He’d be faithful to provide. And, boy, did He ever! These friends have been our family for 7 years now. We’ve walked through the absolute lowest and hardest seasons with them, and we’ve celebrated some of life’s greatest joys together. We’ve lived in California from ages 24-31… that’s a lot of life we’ve lived with them and a lot of growing and refining that has happened, and we’re so grateful that God brought us such faithful, thoughtful, fun-loving friends to walk alongside of us in this season.
.
We spent a large majority of last night in prayer, thanking God for His goodness to our family during our years here, celebrating the great work He’s accomplished with this community, and lifting up this next season of life for us. I don’t know what exactly is in store for us, but I DO know that the God that was kind and faithful to our family here is the same God that will provide for and protect us again in our next chapter.

The Bible talks about seasons for a reason. They’re a part of life and something we should expect. This past season of life - the one where we moved across the country, helped build a church, made lifelong friends, and started a family - has been the sweetest, absolute best season of life we’ve had and we’re really sad it’s changing. But acknowledging a changing season and the loss that comes with it doesn’t take away the richness of it or how fondly we’ll look back on it. We’re grateful for this past season of life, and we’re looking forward to the next one with hope! 🤍
