Joining us from sunny Brighton, choreographer @colette_kite will be leading one of the sessions @the_playing_fields @trinitylaban on Oct 5th.
She began her dance training alongside Ceyda Tanc Youth Dance and Penny and Jules Dance. This interest and passion for movement led Colette to train at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance (commencing in 2017). Whilst studying at NSCD Colette worked with choreographers including Matthew Slater, Amaury Lebrun, The Hiccup Project, Lea Anderson and Gary Clarke.
Colette co-founded MANA Dance Company in 2019 with her peer, Georgia Marshall.

Soulink family ~

Originally hand-carved in wax and cast in silver for my Blind Trust project, these forms were created to be felt against the body ~ exploring the connection between touch, body and mind

Now, they’re slowly becoming something new ~ rings, bracelets, necklaces…

If you’re curious about the ideas behind them, my dissertation Jewellery, Touch and Intimacy – How Does Jewellery Make You Feel? is now available to read on my website too ★

MEET OUR THIRD SYDA REGULAR ARTIST, COLETTE KITE

We’re so excited to welcome Colette Kite as one of SYDA’s regular artists.

Alongside our programme of visiting guest artists, Colette will return throughout the year to work with our young dancers — bringing continuity to the programme, getting to know the cohorts and supporting their development as dance artists.

Colette is a contemporary dance artist based in the South East of England. After graduating from Northern School of Contemporary Dance, she has gone on to perform and tour professionally with companies including Ceyda Tanc Dance, KDE Dance and Visual Poets.

Alongside her performance career, Colette co-founded MANA Dance, where she co-created and performed original works that received multiple choreographic awards. Her practice also extends into the commercial sector, with performance credits for artists and brands including Two Shell, SONY, Afriquoi and WWF.

We’re so excited for our dancers to work with an artist whose career spans touring, choreography and collaborative creative practice.

Want to work with Colette and an exciting line-up of artists joining us this year?

Registrations of interest for our first auditioned SYDA cohorts are now open.

→ Link in bio

And next up, we will be revealing the first of our SYDA visiting artists…
