LE NID
by Maxime Houot
Production: @collectifcoin

Seven vulnerable cameras looking at you like small, wide-awake chicks, and you think: oh, how cute, how fragile.

We live in a time when surveillance no longer shows up in the form of cameras at intersections, but politely: in push notifications, in cookie banners you click away without looking, because you’re in a hurry, because you still wanted to post something.

Palantir sells software to governments, Clearview AI has photographed half of Instagram, and in China the traffic light knows who crossed on red before you’ve even made it home. Researchers have shown that perfectly ordinary routers can recognize people by the disturbances in their radio signal and reconstruct body postures through walls. Without any camera at all.

Those who are really watching us have long since stopped having eyes. And yet none of this seems to make us uneasy anymore.

We experience most surveillance tools as a service or as entertainment. Just like these sweet chicks in their nest: chirping, unsuspecting, rather photogenic. And we watch ourselves being exposed and call it content.

All your life you’ve been afraid of the little red blinking light in the corner, and now, in this room, you feel sorry for it. You want to stroke the cameras. You want to say: it’s okay, little cameras, I’ll feed you.

A look inside @himmelunterberlin Vol. III, an immersive art exhibition taking place in the underground spaces of a former motor factory in Berlin from October 9 to November 1, 2026.

Bringing together international artists working with light, sound and technology, the exhibition occupies a labyrinth of vaulted cellars with installations that engage the senses.

It took three years of searching for a location for Himmel unter Berlin. Now the exhibition returns to the cellar network of an abandoned engine factory.

Tickets went live 24 hours ago. Already half sold out.

Imagine yourself in a red bar. Atmospheric music surrounds you, a drink is handed to you. A person leads you to an old cabinet. Inside: a hidden door.
Behind it begins a journey into the foundation of the city. Deep into the minds of artists who guide you through a dark labyrinth.

Berlin was once a promise that smelled of old industrial buildings, basements, and dark machine halls. Heaven Beneath Berlin brings this back. A web of vaulted cellars. Something between an exhibition and an underground gathering, like Berlin in the ‚90s. Raw, cold, improvised. The charm of imperfection.
