moved to san diego four years ago today. phew, what a ride.

when i got here, i remember feeling like i was going to college all over again. except this time, i knew who i was and what i wanted to learn.

if the last four years have taught me anything, it's that life is one big spiral and compassion is key.

my first few years out here, i built my life around healing. big love and light energy. i socialized in wellness spaces instead of bars and genuinely felt like i was mastering "the work." along the way, found a lot of my people too.

and then over the last two years, i've let that life hold me as spirit's reminded me that wherever you go, there you are. big dark and messy energy. i let those people get to know the parts of me i thought i left back on the east coast.

it's not a coincidence the timing of this shift lines up with this administration. ironically enough, roe v. wade was overturned the day i moved too. the personal and the collective are one in the same.

it's funny, i used to believe that transformation required becoming someone unrecognizable. a before and after story. a "shannon 2.0".

it turns out san diego shan is new york shan is ocean city shan is philly shan.

these days, transformation feels like laughing with my shadow, meeting them with more compassion and getting off the healing hamster wheel enough to let myself just be.

cheers to four years in one of the many places that i'm lucky enough to call home with some of my favorite stretches of land, humans and versions of myself i get to experience it with.

April was… a lot 🥲

in business (as you’ve seen) and in life (as you’ve not seen).

less than three weeks ago I was in my first car accident on the 5 north.

everything happened so fast, and I am so, so SO so grateful to still be here writing this today— as the EMT, nurses, and doctors told me, it is nothing short of a miracle that I still am.

it left me raw, devastated, terrified, traumatized, and so incredibly aware of just how fragile and mortal I am— how much we all are.

*and* just how much I need my people 🤲🏾✨

so I continued, probably a little mix of my history of picking up and moving forward despite trauma in there, but also because I needed you guys just as much as you need me.

I walked into Empower less than a week after that accident and without telling them what happened allowed myself to be held by the powerful, creative women in the room.

I walked into last Sunday’s market less than two weeks after that accident and allowed myself to be held again by the incredible businesses I’m fortunate to work with and receive care from.

this community is far more than work for me and I’m grateful more now than ever for you all.

the ways in which you’ve come around me whether you’ve known what happened or not is so spiritual— the rides, the meals, the hugs, the encouragement, the listening ears, the gifts, the gifted sessions, the tools, the childcare, the purpose. it has all meant so much to me ✨

I am moving slower, processing, healing, sobbing, and still showing up in the ways that I can for us all.

thank you so much for your grace, your loving words, and all your support.

with so much love,
