🌟 Community Partner Highlight: Collective Memory 🌟

Sheena Rae Dowling and Yvette Roman’s Collective Memory highlights shared experiences, fostering empathy, collaboration, and community through healing-centered engagement and restorative practices. They believe in the transformative power of art to preserve cultural narratives and connect people.

In 2022, they created a temporary art installation for Park Social, titled Collective Memory. It reimagined a sunny afternoon picnic where the community gathered to reflect on the emotional journey of living through the pandemic.

We are so looking forward to teaming up with Collective Memory for our Choreo & The Big Gay Picnic event! You are all invited to picnic, socialize, and enjoy the show over Collective Memory’s incredibly crafted picnic blankets, made from fabric remnants and clothing donated by members of the San Ysidro community.

Collective Memory was created as a temporary, event-driven installation that captures the magic of a sunny afternoon picnic. Yvette Roman and Sheena Rae Dowling met and began collaborating in 2016. They have since embarked on a collaborative mission aimed at highlighting shared experiences and fostering a supportive network that cultivates empathy, collaboration, and community spirit.

Join us for Choreo & @biggaypicnic on Sunday May 19th from 12-4pm. Located at Balboa Park, between Balboa Dr and Quince st.
