Thank you @sistersinpurple for your leadership and your continued work for survivors in healing, advocacy and community. Thank you for organizing City Hall Take Over for domestic violence awareness month.
You have created a space where other community leaders like @collettevsmith , @koryc__ and @riseprojectnyc, Dr Kim Watson- Benjamin and many more can come together and bridge the gap to provide support.

Sisters in Purple is a Harlem based nonprofit, survivor led organization founded in 2020 to support individuals and families affected by domestic violence, community violence and injustice

M.I.N.E is a non profit serving NYC that helps bridge the gap in healing services for survivors through our Strength Embodied program.

This free nine week program teaches survivors strength training fundamentals so that they may use weightlifting as a form of health, healing, and community.

“It’s game day, every day!” 🏈

Tuskegee alumna and trailblazing coach Collette V. Smith brought her “coach mode” to campus for the latest Lyceum Engagement Series.

In a fireside chat moderated by student leader and football player Richard Scott, Smith shared lessons on leadership, taking risks, seeking opportunities and believing in yourself.

“Step to the front. Be in the front row. There is something magical when you take a chance on yourself.”

Smith, who made history as the first African American woman to coach in the NFL, also encouraged students to be bold, become game-changers and take action.

The conversation was part of Tuskegee’s 2026–2027 Lyceum Series, Reliving the Black Renaissance: Celebrating History, Culture and Dialogue through Voices that Inspire.

It was a true honor to welcome Ms. Collette V. Smith as our guest speaker for the Fall 2026 Lyceum Series. Tuskegee women have always been catalysts for change, and Ms. Smith exemplified that spirit completely.

As the NFL’s first African American female coach and the Founder and President of BELIEVE IN YOU INC., she delivered a deeply moving address. She spoke to our students about the weight and triumph of being first, staying optimistic in times of change, walking boldly into every room, and never being afraid to take up space.

As a woman pursuing a career in sports, connecting with Ms. Smith was both inspiring and deeply empowering. Her message reinforced my confidence, reminding me to embrace this journey whole-heartedly and trust where purpose and faith are leading me.

We capped off an extraordinary evening celebrating at the night game, a fantastic way to welcome Ms. Smith back home to Tuskegee. Thank you, Ms. Smith, for your wisdom, leadership, and unwavering support! ♥️

Collette V. Smith, Founder and President, Believe N You, Inc., Tuskegee University Alumna, NFL’s 1st American Female Coach, and Honorary Member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. returns home to Mother Tuskegee as apart of our Lyceum Series. Richard Scott, Executive SGA Cheif of Staff, was the moderator for this event.

Question: Humans have an innate competitive nature, everyone wants to be first and everyone wants to make history. As a pioneer and a ground breaker, is being a trailblazer as redeeming as it seems?
