Our final resident feature ahead of landing at The Red Church next weekend - Des Lennis! Bristol-based DJ and radio selector Des Lennis is fast becoming one of the city’s most exciting selectors. Her DJ sets stitch together high-energy house, psychedelic progressive layers, esoteric electro and driving acid chuggers. Our headliner next Friday lands at Angel fresh from his release, New World, on Kia’s @animalialabel — a record of vapour drums and dub, echoing wub & thump, metallic flickers, alien pads and bass that seems to arrive from several planets away. Minimal techno skeletons stretch out into psytrance propulsion, post-punk greyness dissolves into soft-focus ambience, and the kind of genre-blurring that feels less like “fusion” and more like several little ecosystems coexisting and carefully moulded into something otherworldly but still very human. Will’s Coloursound project is old selves merging to the most instinctive self yet, meticulously designed, spacious enough to float in and detailed enough to get lost inside. “It didn’t really make sense to me why I was drawn to these different sounds, so I struggled a little with my identity as an artist. Eventually, I have come to realise that this is virtually the work, knowing how you stand within the world and being able to articulate how you got there.
