Thank you @comaedits for always converting Jesse’s vision, into absolutely profound and inspiring edits like this one...carving his legacy into pieces that will continue to deploy courage, hope and fortitide into hearts and lives.

We continue to carry his torch.

An adventurer at heart and an entrepreneur in spirit, Jesse carried the lessons of the mountains into every facet of his life: perseverance in the face of adversity, preparation as the foundation of success, and resilience when the climb became steep. He knew that grit was not just a trait, but a way of living—a quiet strength that shapes character and opens the path forward.

He traveled the world with curiosity and courage, gathering stories, friendships, and memories along the way. And wherever he went, he left people better than he found them. Jesse had a rare gift for lifting others, for inspiring confidence when doubt whispered, for reminding us all that true strength lies in helping one another rise.

We continue forward in the spirit and in the vision that Jesse lived out. We honour him for reminding us of what matters most and of the possibility that is within all of our reach. We are here to leave people, places and things…better than we found them.

Yesterday was the release of the final episode of season 3 featuring Bebe Buckskin and Alexandra Lazarowich! Here’s some more in-depth information on these wonderful artists and their accomplishments.

The honeyed snarl of Metis/Cree artist Bebe Buckskin is a reckoning force. Somewhere between acid - laced vintage rock and the contemporary protest of her fearless roots, we find this powerful songstress cutting an impressive swath. Substantially experienced as a songwriter and performer, she now finds herself on a momentous upswing, and ready for the climb. With multiple chart-successes on the Indigenous Music Countdown, Buckskin is no stranger to creating, releasing, and working her unique music.
Her latest release, “Captain Medicine”, takes a high dive from modern -day music into the depths of her old soul. And in that bottomless pool of emotion; the swirling currents of trauma; loss; and finally, joy and acceptance - comes a raw, intimate, and unapologetic album that speaks to the collective. A vulnerable, soulful album that focuses on healing and acceptance. This alter ego Bebe calls “Captain Medicine” is akin to a playful yet mischievous coyote spirit, taking us on a backcountry musical trek into sadness, grief, and inner strength; showing us how to reclaim our lost and wandering spirits.

ALEXANDRA LAZAROWICH is an award-winning Cree filmmaker originally from northern Alberta, Canada. She is passionate about telling Indigenous stories. Her short documentary FAST HORSE premiered and won the Special Jury Award for Directing at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. FAST HORSE can be watched in full at CBC Docs. Alexandra’s body of work as a director, writer, and series producer include CBC’s Stuff the British Stole, SYFY’s Resident Alien, CBC’s Still Standing and WINDING PATH , FARM CRIME, LAKE, JESSE JAMS, A Portrait in Red, Indian Rights for Indian Women, Out of Nothing, Cree Code Talker, Crooked Creek, Empty Metal, INAATE/SE/ and Alvaro. She is one of the co-founders of the Indigenous experimental not-for-profit COUSIN COLLECTIVE. She is currently in production on her first feature documentary TURTLE ISLAND RAP with SCENARIO MEDIA for Bell Media.

Today is the release of episode 8 of our third season! We’re excited about these two incredible artists, Sebastian Gaskin and Carla Robinson. Here’s a bit about Sebastian and a refresher on Carla! Enjoy and look out for the release later today!

For award-winning Toronto-based, Tataskweyak Cree Nation multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter and producer Sebastian Gaskin, first, he gets comfortable with the outcome, then gets to work sculpting his experience into a song. It’s the mark of an artist unafraid to look deeply into themselves— in the process, creating a sonic offering designed to embrace our many broken pieces, while reminding us that love and vulnerability are acts of resistance.
Intentionally genre amorphous, Gaskin’s music lends itself to a bold intuition and gut instinct. At once, conjuring the timeless spirit of Bill Withers and the musical virtuosity of John Mayer, with the mischievous wordplay of Post Malone and Pro Era. A dynamic producer and arranger, Gaskin’s ear for collaboration (and an undeniable earworm) has led them to work with Evan Miles (dvsn, renforshort) and Milano (Icona Pop) to reimagine the potential of each genre they explore. Racking up 563.5k+ streams across Canada and playing venues and festival stages around the world, he’s supported artists ranging from Common to T-Pain. Sebastian’s forthcoming debut album will be released on the Indigenous-owned music company, Ishkōdé Records and Universal Music Canada”.

Carla is the director of a season two episode of Amplify called Paint The Town Red featuring the Snotty Nose Rez Kids. She is currently developing several film and TV projects through her company Wassum Productions Inc. In 2022 Carla was the story
room coordinator for Devonshire Productions, the Thin Red Line. She was also named The Emerging Art Laureate through the Ontario Arts Council after being nominated by Shirley Cheechoo, as winner of the Ontario Arts Council Indigenous Arts Award.

Later today the 7th episode of season 3 airs and we’re just as excited as you are! Here’s a bit more about each of these wonderful artists before the episode goes live! Enjoy!

Evan Redsky is a songwriter, hailing from the First Nations Reserve of Mississaugi First Nation. Raised in Blind River and now residing in Toronto, ON. His latest offering, Oblivion seamlessly weaves traditional storytelling, delicate nuance, and poignant commentary on the human condition into a cathartic collection of highway-song vignettes.
Drawing from early childhood memories of hearing classic Canadian roots music on one of his reserve’s few available radio stations, Redsky felt compelled to reclaim that form as a vehicle for recounting his own experience as a “Canadian”. Surviving a lineage plagued by the fallout of colonialism, his perspective on the plight of the indigenous peoples of Canada is one that is deeply important in understanding the urgency of truth and reconciliation.

Sean Stiller (Associate Member, CSC) is an award-winning filmmaker specializing in documentary/non-fiction, commercial and Indigenous films. He has worked on a wide variety of productions, from TV series, feature length films, gallery installations and branded documentary series, as well as his own original projects. His films have screened domestically and internationally, at Vancouver International Film Festival, Lunenberg Docs, Hot Docs Documentary Festival, ImagineNative, Planet In Focus Environmental Film Festival, Maoriland, and Maryland International Film Festival, among others.

Claudia Skunk is an Anishinaabe producer from Mishkeegogamang First Nation, now based in Toronto. She is the Impact Producer for The Knowing, a four-part CBC series by Tanya Talaga, and serves as the Associate Producer for AMPLIFY Season Three. Additionally she is the Producer for Mekwac, an interactive and immersive work. Claudia recently completed the Interactive and Immersive Fellowship with the National Film Board of Canada, a program created in partnership with the Indigenous Screen Office.
