I don’t just show a book, I tell my story behind it.

I once jumped off a barn with shopping bags strapped to my back because apparently, I thought I was a super hero 🤦🏻‍♂️

I didn’t own this comic as a kid. Hell, I wasn’t even collecting comics yet. But He-Man? I was ALL IN.

I was about five, and the cartoon had everything a kid could want: larger-than-life characters, cheesy stories, ridiculous amounts of muscle and enough flashiness to keep me glued to the TV.

And let’s be honest, He-Man looked like half the wrestlers I was watching. Huge muscles, dramatic poses and the ability to solve most problems by yelling and hitting something. Naturally, I was sold. 😂

But this book takes me back to more than just cartoons.

It reminds me of the old farmhouse, picnics on the front lawn with Mom, learning to ride a bike, and jumping off the neighbour’s barn with shopping bags strapped to my back because I thought I could fly.

Spoiler alert: gravity was undefeated.

The early ’80s were something else. Atari, ColecoVision, LJN wrestling figures, G.I. Joe, GoBots, Hot Wheels and Transformers. My sister had Rainbow Brite, My Little Pony and Strawberry Shortcake. There was no shortage of toys to fight over, lose pieces to, or leave scattered across the house.

Years later, when I spotted this Masters of the Universe comic, I knew it belonged in my comic collection.

Not because it was a major key issue or some massive investment opportunity.

Because it reminded me of being a kid, when the biggest problems in life were learning to ride a bike and figuring out why jumping off a barn didn’t make you fly.

Sometimes comic book collecting isn’t about chasing value. It’s about finding a little piece of your childhood you can hold onto.

And this one takes me straight back.

ONE THOUSAND ISSUES. 🤯🕷️

Think about how many stories, villains, iconic moments, and different versions of Spider-Man we’ve had over the years.

The Amazing Spider-Man N° 1000 | 2026 | Skan Local Comic Shop Day Variant (2026)

A milestone like this deserves some attention, and Skan’s cover is a pretty cool way to celebrate it. And the artwork is so cool!

What I especially like is that this was released for Local Comic Shop Day. I’m always happy to see something that gives people another reason to support their local comic shops instead of just chasing everything online.

And let’s be honest… when a character has been around this long, there are going to be a LOT of covers worth collecting.

Whether you’ve been reading Spidey for decades or you’re newer to the hobby, reaching issue 1000 is a pretty wild achievement.

Here’s to another thousand… although my wallet would probably prefer fewer variant covers along the way.
