Eli Wan LINK IN BIO🔗 @iameliwan contains multitudes. He’s a Chinese-Korean artist, born and raised in Brisbane’s multicultural hub, Sunnybank. He’s a university dropout, Uber Eats devotee, lockdown endurer, and one of Australia's most exciting indie acts. Debuting in late 2025, Eli has captured music fans' ears with his catchy blend of alt-rock and EDM. Inspired by acts like Last Dinosaurs, Bon Iver, and Porter Robinson, Eli explores what it means to connect in an online age where we’re just as likely to swipe as to say “hi”. His music is steeped in a dynamism and freedom that has carried from the studio to the stage. To Eli, the barricade separating him and the crowd is merely an obstacle to be overcome. It’s common to catch him face to face with his fans, mutually screaming lyrics of angst into each other's faces — the epitome of an offline experience.   Make sure to see Eli as a part of this year’s ‘Manly Sereandes’ at @brisbanefestival. Thanks to Eli and the good people at @common___state for making this happen.  EAT THIS!

🎨 Exploring identity, migration, memory and what it means to truly see and be seen. Desi Australia recently spoke with Sri Lankan-born, Queensland-based multidisciplinary artist Kuweni Dias Mendis, ahead of the world premiere of her immersive installation (In)Sight at Brisbane Festival this September. In conversation with our NSW Editor, Sukruti Narayanan, Kuweni reflects on her creative journey, her South Asian and diasporic experience, and how land, ritual, the body and memory continue to shape her artistic practice. Created with Grant x Wilkes, (In)Sight invites audiences to look beyond the visible and consider how identity is perceived, how images are formed, and how our understanding of one another can shift through art. 🎥 Watch our interview with Kuweni Dias Mendis and discover the story and ideas behind (In)Sight. #desiaustralia #kuwenidiasmendis #brisbanefestival #InSight #sukrutinarayanan #southasianartists #srilankanaustralian #AustralianArts #contemporaryart #multidisciplinaryart #diaspora #migration #identity #culture #brisbanearts #SouthAsianDiaspora

When @melbourne.royal recently announced the winners of its Australian International Spirits Awards there were plenty of worthy winners, but what warmed my heart most was the acknowledgment of Victoria’s own @maidenii as Champion Small Australian Distiller and Champion Victorian distiller. Shaun Byrne and Gilles Lapalus started Maidenii 15 years ago, and they have built a brand that is now synonymous with quality vermouth and that graces bars, restaurants and homes around the country. On Relish, Shaun spoke about the journey, those awards, but also about the long path to recovery following the devastating fires that took out the Harcourt coolstores in January. They’ve had a lot of support to date, but it’s a long road ahead and Shaun shares a bit about some great opportunities coming up to get your hands on some rare bottles and lend a helping hand at the same too. Have a listen on Relish wherever you head for your fave podcasts, or just follow the link in my bio. #melbourneroyal #australianinternationalspiritsawards #maidenii #maideniivermouth

Confronting and coarse, Break of Day is a challenging yet valuable theatre experience. Set over one long night in the Australian town of Burra Creek, it explores poverty, cycles of family pain and few prospects, while five characters swing between desolation and hope, determined for their lives to mean something more than their circumstances and choices have dictated. An emotionally intense story of family, dreams and determination. 4 🌟 Read the full review at Bacchus at the Theatre 🎭 📍 Presented by @malthousetheatre See it at the Merlin Theatre in Southbank Melbourne until 29 August 2026. 📸 by Pia Johnson

Replica LINK IN BIO🔗 For anyone down at @melbfilmfest ! Make sure to book a ticket to ‘Replica’ for tomorrow night’s screening.  ‘Replica’ is the intriguing feature documentary debut of director @chouwaliang . Informed by her own experience in lockdown and her short film, 'My AI Lover', Liang builds a tender exploration of loneliness, disillusionment, and gender inequality, aimed at women past their twenties. Through her sympathetic lens and intimate access, we understand our protagonist's unorthodox approach to connection. Replica, sets the table for a vision of  love in a present that can feel like a dystopian future.  Thanks to Chouwa Liang for taking the time to chat. Massive shout outs to the good people at @common___state and MIFF for making this happen.  EAT THIS!
