Communion is a queer party founded by KiT to bring people together and build community through shared moments on the dancefloor. Each edition takes on a new identity: from the squelchy house of Space Communion to the pounding techno of Cyber Communion, the focus is always on variety, energy and fun. Communion champions Sheffield’s local scene while also bringing in DJs from further afield, offering a broad spectrum of sounds and a chance to discover something new. They are raising money for, Beat Eating Disorders Beat is the UK’s leading eating disorder charity, dedicated to ending the pain and suffering caused by these illnesses by providing expert support, resources, and campaigning for better healthcare. Artist/artists, Kit b2b Ed Law Ed Law, one of the AWE party starters, forges the familiar Sounds of Detroit techno with unexpected deviations. Pinning down a genre isn’t easy, but you can be assured he can bring the temperature in the room up. KiT’s sound is an unpredictable journey through music. His sets build an architecture of emotion where tension, release, joy and mischief all find their place. Layered with subtle twists and playful surprises, and always in tune with the crowd’s response.

Greetings and happy Tuesday. Terrible Tuesdays are a thing of the past am I right!! Or has someone (me) just been on holiday? 😎 Anyway, we have an absolutely stellar week lined up for you (and a very exciting Grub mailing list coming very soon!) Here’s what you can look forward to… WED 18th Salt fat acid heat A little midweek link-up at Grub. Just some friends serving up acid party tunes and whatever else activates your dancing shoes. THURS 19th We’re thrilled to be teaming up with Audio Technica to celebrate the launch of the superb new film ‘A Century In Sound’ which premieres in the UK this weekend as part of Sheffield DocFest. For the launch event we’re welcoming director Nick Dwyer and DJ/label owner Kay Suzuki to Hagglers Corner for a conversation about the film and the setting that surrounds it, with opportunities for a Q+A afterwards as well as listening through some seminal albums of the period on the wonderful Apricot Ballroom Sound System. When the talk concludes, we’ll then dance to DJ sets from Kay, Kasper Collin, and Joi L.F in Grub. The event starts with welcome drinks from 6pm in Grub, and more info on the film (and tickets to see it before the event) can be found at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/a-century-in-sound-uk-premiere-party-tickets-1408736501799 FRI 20th Grub Selectors In-Store An all night long jungle special from Sheffield’s primo expert on the subject, Smiley Maxx. A good friend of the shop, superb producer, and bonafide jungle specialist, Max will be bringing four hours of full-bore heat to the shop for an all-night takeover. Lots of you have been asking for more jungle in the shop, and boy will this deliver! SAT 21st Communion Communion is a queer party founded by KiT to bring people together and build community through shared moments on the dancefloor. Communion brings its signature energy to Grub with a selection of squelchy house, thumping techno, rich basslines, and more.
