I hadn’t planned on making a Reel.

I just filmed a few bits for the memories.

But decided to upload them to CapCut to create a quick video - as I’ve GOT to talk about the @community_media’s Community Media Festival 🎤🎙️📻🎥

First of all, thanks @community_media for holding it in London. I’d wanted to go for years, but the venue was always too far away.

Secondly, the venue choice - wow! The home of @bauermedia.uk. It was STUNNING.

There were so many great things about the day:

🎤 an impressive speaker lineup

🎤 relevant content and conversations

🎤 lots of cool community radio peeps and podcasters to meet and hang out with

I’d have loved it even more if it had included other forms of community media - like digital, film and TV.

Kinda like the visual community media we do at @ourversionmedia.

Maybe next year?

But its focus on community radio and podcasting - audio - wasn’t a bad thing: I LOVE community radio.

It’s where I started my media career around twenty years ago:

@unity101fm community radio ➡️ @bbc local radio ➡️ @itvnews regional news ➡️ @ourversionmedia

And I’m still involved in community radio to this day ❤️

Overall, it was a brilliant event!

Head to @community_media for more.

Like my Reel’s style? Comment TEMPLATE and I’ll DM you the CapCut template

This was a lovely surprise!

Absolutely delighted to receive a Community Media Champion Award from the @community_media Association (CMA) in recognition of my contribution to community media!

It really means a lot. Community radio has been such a huge part of my life, and I’ve always believed in its power to bring people together and create opportunities for people to shine.

From @thisisriverside to @westminster.waves and working with brilliant community broadcasters across the country, it’s been quite a journey!

The best bit? Watching people discover talents they never knew they had and seeing what a difference community radio can make.

A massive thank you to the CMA, to @thedomchambers amd his amazing charity @soundvisioncio and to all the wonderful people I’ve worked with along the way. This award means so much because of you.

And I’m not finished yet!

Last week I was really pleased (and rather humbled!) to receive a Community Media Champions Award at the @community_media Festival.

A big thank you to the Community Media Association and @soundvisioncio, particularly @thedomchambers, who presented me with the award. And congratulations to fellow recipients @podding_by_jo and @jasonrosam!

This coming February marks 20 years since I started working full-time in community radio, beginning at @futureradio_norwich. Back then, I was just delighted to be presenting a breakfast show! 📻

I've been lucky enough to do all sorts of things since, meet some wonderful people and work on projects that have made a real difference to communities. Community radio has given me so many opportunities, and I still love being involved through my work at the University of Bedfordshire and beyond.

A few photos from over the years, including my early Future Radio days, meeting the King at Buckingham Palace last year, and celebrating at the festival last weekend.

I'm very grateful to everyone I've worked with along the way. Thanks all.

Here's to another 20 years! ❤️🎙️

Had the best time hosting the @community_media festival this weekend with such an amazing team💙

I truly wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing without my time at my local community station and all the people I met there that have helped me along the way.

Such an inspiring and positive day✨

Yesterday at the @community_media Festival at Bauer Media Audio - thanks for such a fab festival, great speakers and lovely vibez.

Nearly didn’t go as I’m shattered but soooo glad I did. Saw old friends, got to hang out with the radio queen @laurennunderwooduk who killed her hosting duties, and met some new pals 🙌

Well done @sonepalda on your award 🏆

Thanks @jasminerowland_ for the mini tour 😂 and how funny to bump into you @imjackburke - Essex representing.
