So grateful to be able to display and share all four Community Weave Panels and photo collages during Community Day. It was at The Pocantico Center, where this project started about a year ago with two Intergenerational, bilingual, weaving workshops. Thank you to all that participated and supported this project. #communityweave #sleepyhollow #tarrytown #communityart

Meeting great artists can, indeed, be a profound experience—often described as an honor that provides inspiration and a deeper connection with creativity. Thanks @susiebrubaker @sleepyhollowtarrytownchamber @algaeartstudio @clairewidman @alexracinesculpture @communityweave

Coming together for the greater good. 🧶

Ramapo High School’s SAC, Environmental, and Haitian Clubs gathered after school to create a woven tapestry that will be displayed at Finkelstein Memorial Library and other public spaces in Spring Valley and the county. The session was led by Daphnee Momperousse, advisor for the Haitian and Environmental Clubs; Joanne Louis-Paul, founder of Spring Valley Placemakers and Ramapo alumna; and Sleepy Hollow-based artist Kersten Harries.
The project, A Vision for Our Future, invites residents to help shape the park through participatory textile art. Each Gryphon created a small woven square that will become part of a larger, multicolored installation reflecting community priorities.

Each color tells a story:
🔴 Community events and programming
🟠 Infrastructure, safety and amenities
🟢 Environmental and landscape improvements
🔵 Recreation and sports
⚪ Arts, culture and gathering spaces

We can’t wait to see the finished piece come together at the park.

💚 thank you to our artist facilitator kersten (@harrieskersten - slide 2) for crafting such a creative way for people to come together.
