Chris comes from Cardiff, Wales and is a Composer and Percussionist. His works have been played by The Royal Philharmonic, BBC Concert Orchestra and the Orchestra of Welsh National Opera to name a few. After completing his Master’s in composition for screen at the Royal College of Music London he now works in the Film, TV and video game industry alongside his work as a composer for the concert hall. For the score to Loathsome Old Trout, he was asked to lean into his skills as a percussionist/drummer and create a percussive and motor driven score. His work with artists such as Queen, Jason Robert Brown and floating points ensemble gave him a good grounding to produce an interesting and fun score. www.marshallmusic.co.uk

Last week we had the great opportunity to showcase some of our works with a live music screening event, as part of the Composition for Screen Showcase at @rcmlondon. A chance also to catch up with many friends & colleagues. A huge thank you to all the incredible string players involved in my piece, including soloist, @eva.victoria.schockmel on Classical Guitar, as well as Conductor @benjaminconducts 👏👏👏 Thanks also to our course leader @dimitriscarlato for the opportunity, as well as for an insightful q&a with composer @anne.j_dudley. Finally, to all the RCM staff & studio engineers on the night, thank you for helping make such a wonderful event come together! 🎉 #filmcomposing #royalcollegeofmusic #brittentheatre #liveconcert #classicalguitar

After a while since the recording at Angel Studios, I can finally share my latest project. Woodwinds, lots of them, and only them. How mesmerising the sound can be? When I pitched the idea at Sonoton, I thought I wouldn't ever get it. I got it, and I had the exquisite chance to compose and to work with 12 of the finest woodwind players in London (thanks @isobelgriffithsltd for the great work!), on a range of different emotive spheres, from lyrical to experimental. Remote recording by @sandrofriedrich1 (check out Forest Blues) and @composermarshall (drum kit in Circus March), conducted by @dimitriscarlato, recorded by Lewis Jones, mixed by Peter Fuchs. This was a fantastic way to celebrate St David's Day - 700 young people from all over Pembrokeshire coming together in St Davids cathedral to perform a brand new song about this very special part of Wales. It was a great privilege to work with the young people of Haverfordwest to create the bilingual lyrics for the piece, which has been set to music brilliantly by composer Chris Marshall. Diolch yn fawr to Mark Llewellyn Evans, the Creative Director and Founder of ABC of Opera, for creating and coordinating the whole project. Thanks also to Welsh Government for vital support. I was in London on business when the performance took place, so I couldn't experience it in person. But this joyful video gives a real sense of what was clearly an inspiring occasion. #Pembrokeshire #stdavids #abcofopera
