*conifer is closing*

Every time I sat down to write this goodbye letter, the tears started flowing. This place is so close to my heart, every corner of it. Our little tucked away shop began as a dream years ago and most of you have seen that whole journey of dreaming come to life. What started as a “maybe we can live in a shop, maybe we’ll do this for a year” became four years!

The early pandemic months leading up to us moving in were terrifying and exciting all at once. Brennan kept reassuring me that it was meant to be, I could build the shop I had in my head even if we didn’t have all the things we thought we needed. We had family to help and friends who believed in us and lots of time.

This place was built out of love - love for small makers and love for the people that visit us. All of you are the reason I kept going, kept pushing through all the challenges that come with owning a small shop. This year has been harder than ever to say the least. I can feel it around town and many of our favorite places are closing their chapters too.

Then there’s the quiet battle…three years ago I began experiencing intense physical pain in my neck and back. It’s spread to nearly my whole body at this point. When you love something so much, it becomes all of you. I began wondering how I would be able to chase my other dreams if I had all of this pain.

I’ve been going back and forth and waiting for things to feel right and a clear path to appear. And then it did. Just like when we opened our doors. When I spoke the words “I’m ready to close the shop” a huge weight lifted off my chest. I didn’t have a plan but I had finally made the toughest decision.

It’s all bittersweet of course.

This shop is our home, our home is our shop. Living upstairs and inviting you all in has been the greatest gift. It didn’t feel right to close overnight or over a weekend. Instead, we get to savor the next two months and enjoy the most special holiday season. Slowly saying goodbye.

Our last day is 12/31!

Thank you for believing in small makers + my small shop.
Thank you for all the sweet memories + friendships.
Thank you for these last four years.

Love,
Caitlyn + Jerry cat 😽

I remember when I was younger and just starting to photograph weddings how excited I was to experience the magic, the serendipity and the little happenstances that seem to weave themselves through the moments surrounding wedding days. Photographing this sweet, intimate mountain wedding day in a stunning stand alone stone church at the base of a mountain just confirmed for the millionth time that I have the coolest job in the world. I get to experience magic!! …And the biggest moments in life as well as the small, quiet ones that encapsulate true love and happiness. I cried in the phone calls leading up to this day, I cried as she walked down the aisle, I cried as he kissed her for the first time as husband and wife. Here’s to my younger self- who desired that magic feeling when witnessing providential moments and here’s to the joy that comes when you fall in love with what you do for work.✨

Our friends, Caitlyn and Brennan on their wedding day, the 21st of September 2024 in black and white🤍
