2026 APL nationals Sydney.

Not even sure where to start this recap of the biggest comp of my life but here goes 😂

Prepped in sleeves the whole training cycle up until about 4 weeks out where we decided to switch to wrapped division and put on a little head to head battle with @robert_patrick__lifts.

Unfortunately did a meniscus knee injury a few weeks out, diving on a snake of course 😅 threw absolutely everything in the book at it to try nurse and baby it just to make it to comp day and whatever i did managed to work.

Warmups hurt and mental game was definitely off, we sent 300kg and it was an empty bar.. straight to comp pr of 325kg, a tad of a dip and knee cave but still butter…. From here i called for the attempt i dreamed about and manifested. To finally have 350kg on my back. I had no expectations of standing up with it and knew id lose 25kg on my total if i failed. But i took the attempt and i stood back up… 2 white lights.. a good lift. I just successfully squatted 350kg in competition. The video captured the moment beautifully and the sportsmanship from Rob elevated the moment. By far the best moment and lift in my powerlifting journey. Nearly cried out back after 😅

Onto bench, 170 opener flew despite coach forgetting to hand me out 💀😂, onto 180, that flew like an empty bar. We thought 190 was gonna be a conservative 3rd but a very safe 3rd, Nup… foot slipped and i failed while grinding it out. The way 180 moved i should have been able to rep 190kg.. lost 10kg on total and only equal pb bench which was disappointing considering bench improved the most of any lift during prep.

Onto deads.. i was beyond cooked at this stage, never been so fatigued before coming into deadlifts. Again disappointed as i should have been able to put up more than my 325kg 2nd. Comfortably pulled 340 in prep only a few weeks prior and to black out with only 335kg sucked a bit 😬

7/9- 855kg total and 2nd place 🥈

Thank you to everyone for the support 🙏🏻 caption is to long to individually tag and thank you all so ill tag you all in the post. What an incredible experience 😍. 800lb squat and 900kg total im coming 😎🫡🤝

Another big week of prep done and dusted, “heavy” week this one with a much needed deload and trip away next week to recovery and reset.

300, 160, 310 for reps this week.

Definitely hit a bit of fatigue with back to back deadlifts and squats at 300kg, really wanted to smash out 4-5 at 300kg on squats but pulled it back to 3 reps leaving a grinder in the tank. Still happy with that PR considering only 2 days ago i took 5 reps at 310kg which has cooked me a bit.

That fatigue will be managed and we will recovery to increase these triples considerably. Havnt started te sups blast ramp up yet so we are in a great place 10 weeks out 🫡💚

Thank you team @thestrengthstudiotsv

Massive squat session today taking 280kg for 5 reps top set with more in the tank, again never even doubled this weight in sleeves went on to pause squat 260x3 backdowns comfortably. Recovery time then back into the next heavys where ill be pushing 290kg for 5 also. Chipping away adding kgs to the bar every week while maintaining rep work 🙏🏻

Unreal session with some big lads today, always keeping me safe on max effort days like today. Cheers boys 🫡

PROUD!

Massive congratulations to the team on receiving their 1st round invites to the 2026 APL Nationals.

From early mornings, missed lifts, big PBs, setbacks, injuries, bodyweight cuts, long prep days and everything in between, this is the reward for consistency and hard work.

Watching this team grow over the last few years has been unreal. Different backgrounds, different goals, different stories, but all willing to show up and put in the work week after week.

Nationals isn’t just about the total on the platform.
It’s about earning your place amongst the best lifters in the country.

Couldn’t be prouder of this crew:

@connorcoghill
@bigdawgbeggs
@theliftingsnakecatcher
@_nikki_kay_

The Strength Studio to the national stage once again.
Now the real work begins. ⚔️💚

Bit of training this week, short sharp prep for my first sleeves comps in 10 years! 🤯 for a 4 week last minute rushed prep things probably couldnt be any better at this point, 780kg sleeves training total this week with more to give before comp. 820+ sleeves total is a very real scenario at the moment which is pretty cool. Next week will see me loading my first 300kg sleeves squat and 180kg back on the bench. Keen to battle it out with the southern lads in Melbourne in a few short weeks time! @zerow_se_melbourne @aplpowerlifting @coach_charles_cini @thestrengthstudiotsv @scottkuhntss
