Life lately.

A collection of personal and professional work I’ve shot over the last two or so months and a few photos that friends have snapped of me. I’m really enjoying photography right now, and I’ve been inspired by new techniques I’ve learned, other work I’ve seen, and the people I’ve surrounded myself with.

Alaska photos pt 2. This was the first time any of us had been on a cruise, and while I think it’s my last time on one, I can’t think of a better way to see as much of Alaska as we did. I could’ve gone without getting sick from the floating norovirus factory though.

We saw just about everything we had hoped to see while there except two things: Denali and the Northern Lights. Apparently only 30% of visitors to the park ever see the mountain. Guess I’ve found my excuse to go back.

When you take 1000 photos, it takes a while to go through them all. So here’s Alaska pt 1, just a couple months late.

Our cruise left Vancouver and made port in Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, and Whittier. From there we took a series of trains and buses to Anchorage, Denali, and finally Fairbanks.

It was a miserable trip and we had no fun, as the photos will show.

One final note: though I may have photoshopped out everyone else on the bridge in the second photo, let me assure you they were not happy at all that I was jumping on it. Something about “compromising the structural integrity”.

There are a lot of pros and cons to shooting film in today’s world.

Some of the pros: forces you to really hone in on a moment in an attempt to capture it with a single frame instead of hitting the shutter and selecting the best out of 10 photos later. It also brings back that excitement of waiting for a roll to get developed and seeing how the photos turned out.

Some of the cons: if you’re like me it can take a long time to go through a roll (but then you forget what you’ve shot so it’s an added surprise when you get it back!). There’s also no denying that the whole process is way more of a hassle.

This roll took 3 months to shoot, and so when I got it back there were so many wonderful moments that I’d forgotten about (and a few that I failed to capture). Here are some of my favorites.
