From our St Leonards Concert on Good Friday earlier this year: an atmospheric candle-lit performance of Haydn’s 7 Last Words, an Easter commission from 1786. ✨

There was a 1 and a half minute silence at the end of this concert before applause, the whole audience together in reflection… amazing!

Coming together for this concert:
Max Baillie and Jonathan Stone - violins
Connie Pharoah - viola
Matthew Huber - cello

💥Our next concert coming up:💥

On Tuesday October 20th we welcome rising star double bass player Levi Andreassen to St Leonards as part of our evening of piano quintets by Vaughan-Williams and Schubert, also featuring Levi and Simon Crawford-Phillips playing Schumann short pieces in folk style! 🎉🎶 💫 Read about Levi below.

Join us at 7:30pm at Christ Church, tickets from just £7 via www.stlconcerts.co.uk/events ! 💥🎶

Thanks to Jonathan Digby for the sound, and @roadfactoryfilms for the image 🎥

For the opening concert of 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐀𝐧𝐝𝐍𝐨𝐰 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟕, we draw inspiration from 𝐴𝑙𝑖𝑐𝑒 𝑖𝑛 𝑊𝑜𝑛𝑑𝑒𝑟𝑙𝑎𝑛𝑑, one of Ligeti’s favorite stories. Music, literature, light, and imagery come together in a program full of fantasy and unexpected twists.

Ligeti’s almost otherworldly organ sounds are featured alongside Schumann’s 𝐹𝑎𝑛𝑡𝑎𝑠𝑖𝑒𝑠𝑡𝑢̈𝑐𝑘𝑒, Schubert’s grand 𝐹𝑎𝑛𝑡𝑎𝑠𝑦 for violin and piano, and music by a new generation of composers. The program also includes a world premiere by Utku Arisorglu.

Just here to tell you that you’ll find me in Heidelberg next spring 🌷💚

I’m very happy to be part of the Heidelberger Frühling Festival Campus Ensemble - a group of wonderful young musicians (can I still call myself that? I just turned 31).

We met for the first time last week and spent a couple of days with inspiring workshops, talking, experimenting and figuring out what we can learn from each other - and, most importantly, what we actually want to create together.

Turns out they’re not only wonderful musicians, but very lovely humans too 🫶🏻

We’ll be back in Heidelberg next spring. Until then, we’ll keep working on what we want to bring there.

So far, all I can tell you is: we’re going to do something about swipe culture (boy, am I a victim), I’ll bring my album programme with me, we’ll have lots of conversations with you - and I’ll probably sing something by Beyoncé.

See you there? 🌷

Congrats to @_aylasahin @constance_pharoah @frederick.winterson_cellist @hans.greve and @juliusbacker for the beautiful musical kick-off ✨
