Happy 250th America! ❤️🤍💙 I wish it wasn’t 100,000 degrees so I could have done some of the holiday festivities in Philly like I did 10 years ago. Where of course, I even found characters 😉

As we start this new American year, I figured I’d share a few things about me that make me who I am and sort of motivate my care for the country.

In 2014 I got a PhD from NYU in government

I have run to every firehouse in Manhattan (and every Police precinct, and every cemetery, and every bridge connecting Manhattan to everywhere else).

I think public spaces give many opportunities for beauty, but are often not cared for

I like reading, and I like drinking water

i’m a mom, and I like making themed snack snacks

I really enjoy older jewelry

I also love America and like thinking about what it has been and what it can be.

James Madison is my favorite government forefather

Dolley Madison is actually my personal goat though

The history of America is something that we should lean into more

whether that’s in outside, walking Tours or dressed up events

I love doing crafts

I really enjoy collecting Americana

I like taking in newer forms of literature and American writing

I love ice cream
and swimming is what I wanna do all summer

I have a new show coming out tomorrow with @profgregjackson of @historythatdoesntsuck with @pavestudios @rewindstudios

I’ve written two books, my most recent one is my favorite

And I have been studying and making available the official communications of members of Congress since 2009 with DCinbox

🇬🇧🇺🇸 What an incredible honor to welcome His Majesty’s Ambassador to the United States to Philadelphia this week, as the city — and the whole country — celebrated the 250th anniversary of American independence.

Together we attended the 2026 Liberty Medal Ceremony at the National Constitution Center, where His Holiness Pope Leo XIV was honored for his contributions to freedom and justice around the world. A truly moving moment to share alongside civic, faith, and community leaders from across the country.

We also had the privilege of:
📜 Visiting the American Philosophical Society to view original founding-era documents up close
🎖️ Touring the Museum of the American Revolution
🔔 Stopping by the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall — steps from where it all began
🤝 Meeting with the Mayor of Philadelphia and the Governor of Pennsylvania

It was a privilege to host the Ambassador in our city and to reflect together on 250 years of the deep, enduring friendship between the United Kingdom and the United States. We are so grateful to everyone who made the visit so meaningful.

Stepping into Signers’ Hall at the National Constitution Center is a literal walk through history! 🇺🇸✨

As we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, being surrounded by these life-sized statues of the Framers hits different. It’s a powerful reminder that democracy and liberty aren’t just words on faded parchment—they’re part of a living, breathing experiment that started 250 years ago.

Let’s be real: our history is complex, the challenges are real, and the negativity can be loud. But the work of building a more perfect union is never truly finished. It’s a group project that belongs to all of us, every single generation. We’ve got to keep showing up, working together, and doing the heavy lifting to perfect the experiment. 🛠️❤️

Happy 250th Birthday, America! 🇺🇸✨

We kicked off Independence Day at the Celebration of Freedom Ceremony at the National Constitution Center, honoring remarkable individuals whose contributions to civic life, arts, culture, and innovation continue to shape Philadelphia.

The celebration continued with the America250 Time Capsule Ceremony at Independence National Historical Park, where this historic capsule was buried to be reopened in 2276!

Here’s to celebrating our past, honoring our present, and inspiring the future. ❤️🤍💙
