I’m excited to announce that today the Oklahoma City Council officially finalized and approved my selection for the public art commission at Oklahoma City’s new arena, Continental Coliseum (@continentalcoliseum)

The design is still being refined, but I wanted to share the short film we created as part of my presentation to the selection committee.

My concept, “One Voice. One OKC.”, is about thousands of individual voices speaking as one. It’s about the idea that sound can shape physical form. It’s about Loud City. Boom Town. The former site of the Myriad. And it’s about creating something that belongs to all of us.

To begin exploring that idea, I asked my friend and multi-instrumentalist Steven Drozd (@stevendrozd) if he’d help me create sound patterns on a Chladni plate that could become the foundation of the design—something simple in form, but rich with meaning.

Then I called my friend and documentary filmmaker Bradley Beesley (@bradley_beesley), shared the vision, and two weeks later we had this film.

The final arena floor design will be complete in September, and I can’t wait to share it with everyone. This short film is only the beginning—we’re already planning to expand it into a much longer piece documenting the entire creative journey.

This video would not have been possible without an extraordinary group of collaborators:
• Steven Drozd (@stevendrozd), for bringing the first sounds to life.
• Bradley Beesley (@bradley_beesley), for bringing this piece to life.
• Concert violinist and sound artist @Chazlenrook, for her incredible sound-bending magic—and for appearing in the film.
• Amy Young and @612okc, who produced this piece.
• Al Novey (@bigcat.media), director of photography.
• Todd Graham (@okccraft), for helping build the Chladni plate.

And finally, my deepest gratitude to the selection committee and all of the stakeholders—including the City of Oklahoma City @cityofokc and the @OKCThunder—for trusting me with this opportunity.

It’s the project of a lifetime, and it means more than I can say to contribute something lasting to a place where generations of memories will be made in Oklahoma. I hope you enjoy!
