Coming 2028: Continental Coliseum

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Continental Coliseum reached another construction milestone this morning as crews began pouring the first of more than 18 elevated concrete decks on the mezzanine and concourse levels 🎥

The work done today is the foundation for the floors fans will be walking on when the Coliseum opens in two years. 🏗️

Work on the deck began on the southeast side of the Coliseum 🧭

To create the spaces, construction teams placed concrete onto elevated structural decking that will form the building’s floors 👷

Crews will continue working in a clockwise and counterclockwise direction over the coming months 🚧

As each section is completed, they will move around the facility, steadily establishing the mezzanine-level footprint 🌅 taken in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma by @continentalcoliseum

A strong core for what’s next.

Our team recently completed a 350-cubic-yard concrete pour for one of four core walls at Continental Coliseum, marking an important step as the structure takes shape.

Measuring 30 feet wide, 60 feet long and 32 feet high, this core wall will help support the concrete decks and large steel structure components that will bring the venue to life.

As the concrete pouring process began for Continental Coliseum, a legacy capsule was carefully placed within the foundation—preserving the story of the community that made this moment possible.

Inside are artifacts that connect Oklahoma City’s past, present and future: a wooden coin from the 1972 opening of the Myriad Convention Center, a letter from Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt, a copy of “Hope Wins,” the iconic photo by OKC Thunder photographer Jimmy Do, captured during the 2025 NBA championship parade, Continental Coliseum groundbreaking memorabilia, four oil samples from active Continental Resources wells in Oklahoma’s Anadarko Basin, a timeline chronicling more than three decades of civic investment...

Among the most meaningful items are two ordinary pennies. One dates to 1993, when Oklahoma City voters approved the original MAPS initiative and began transforming the city through a temporary one-cent sales tax. The other is from 2023, when voters approved building Continental Coliseum, continuing that tradition of investing in Oklahoma City’s future.

These artifacts tell one story: that lasting change is built over time, through a shared commitment to something bigger than ourselves.

Every artifact in the legacy capsule represents a chapter in Oklahoma City’s journey. Together, they preserve the story behind Continental Coliseum—and the vision that continues to shape the city’s future. taken in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma by @continentalcoliseum
