We had hundreds of photos to choose from and twenty images still couldn’t capture everything this conversation held. 𝘉𝘦𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘪𝘰: 𝘕𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘨𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘈𝘳𝘵 was nothing short of magical.

This was one of those rooms where people took notes like in a college lecture, asked engaging questions, and stayed present for every word. The energy in that space was something we will not forget.

A special thank you to Zebedayo Masongo (@zmasongo) of Malindi Press (@malindipress) for traveling from New Jersey to share his knowledge and his time. A special thank you to Alexander Daniels Escobar for letting us exhibit his work in the space. And thank you to everyone who showed up, and made this conversation what it was. We are so grateful and elated by how well this was received. 🤍

More to come 🌍

In the last 3 weeks I’ve touched 4 different walls, co-curated a group exhibit for Juneteenth, and met a lot of really interesting characters. I have been fortunate enough to practice my art publicly, and I’m continuing to see myself grow in confidence and technique. I really don’t have some long thought out post for yall today, just some snippets of life as it’s forever moving forward.

Thank you for all the support, thank you for all the love, and man thank you to my hometown (Lansing) and the muthafuckin EastSIDEEEEEEE!!🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

Catch me outsideeeeee….✌🏽

Me at the opening night of Communal Effervescence.

For the past several years, I’ve been dreaming about and building @conveningco.studio It started with a simple idea we have all been hearing about: third spaces. Through traveling, building community, and paying attention to the places that made me feel connected; that made others feel connected…. I realized how important it is to have spaces where people can simply exist... Places of beauty, creativity, and belonging that invite us to know one another, see one another, to be with one another.

Over the past few years, alongside my civil rights work, I’ve had the opportunity to support nonprofits, marketing agencies, economic development partnerships, artists, and community organizations. Through that work, I’ve helped build collaborative spaces and learned firsthand about the countless hours, relationships, and coordination required to bring people together in meaningful ways. Communal Effervescence is the first exhibition I’ve curated through Convening Co.

My hope is that one day @conveningco.studio becomes a physical space. A gallery, a gathering place, somewhere you can pop in, say hello, and be in community.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me, trusted me, collaborated with me, and encouraged me to keep building.

This is just the beginning.

Follow @conveningco.studio for future exhibitions, events, and community gatherings.
