Another cracking lunch at @thefoxpenllyn today kicking off with the mouth watering sharing snack platter comprising of:-
Juicy Olives & Feta
Fresh Warm Bread
Pickles
Parmesan Hash Browns with Crispy Bacon
Honey Mustard Sausages
Burrata
Smoked Charcuterie
All deliciously moreish - could pick at this all day - thoroughly recommended 😋😋

Mains today comprised of Hereford Beef Pie with the famous Buttery Mash topping, Lamb with Roast Beetroot, Feta and Pickled Cucumber, Coley (more mash😊) and the Chicken Scrumpet with a Caesar Salad and the compulsory side of Parmesan Chips and some Honey Roasted Carrots which were excellent.
Did manage to squeeze a Chocolate & Cherry cake to finish 🤭

No one leaves the Fox hungry, generous portions, tasty food and fabulous service (oh and a hug from @cook.ceri 😊) perfect afternoon.

Tonight at the Fox in Penllyn 😍

Hearty & Wholesome (always)
Tasty (goes without saying)
Plentiful (no one leaves hungry)
Excellent cooking (never in doubt)

Scotch Egg with Black Garlic Ketchup & Pickles - perfectly cooked egg surrounded by herby sausage cased in a crispy crumb - worth the trip just for this, exquisite.
A starter portion of Nachos so big, Sian had to request assistance to finish (lucky me) - have I tasted finer, probably not, the braised beef and tomato salsa elevated a humble dish to mouth watering levels.
Crispy Lamb on a bed of Braised Fennel, (a seriously under appreciated vegetable), with mint, feta and asparagus was quite a dish. The fennel was particularly good with the braising liquid reducing the sometimes harsh aniseed flavours to a smooth and rich velvety texture which complement the lamb perfectly.
The Chicken a La Crème with mushrooms, leeks, Tarragon and Potatoes was apparently rather good too (didn’t get to taste this though - not quick enough on this occasion 😊)

A visit to @thefoxpenllyn never disappoints - a menu to get the mind whirring and the taste buds salivating, making your choice can take a while and whatever you choose there will be food envy elsewhere.
We were sorely tempted by the sharing board that went past our table but decided that was for another day.
Lamb Salami with sharp crispy pickles - a great snack to kick off.
Fried Chicken with Hot Honey and Slaw - my choice, definitely the right one - the crispiest, crunchiest outer crust enveloping succulent chicken 😋 always a winner
Goats Cheese on wild garlic toast & truffled honey also hit the spot (I managed a sneaky forkful 😊)
The Pie & Mash is always a best seller, Steak & Ale tonight which were flying out of the kitchen.
The last time I had a Pork Schnitzel was in Vienna but @john.m_cook has elevated an everyday classic to another level, place a fried egg on top is another ✅ then add mash with copious amounts of wild garlic butter which is basically a snog on a plate 💋 glorious 😋

Highly recommend a visit if you haven’t yet been.

Today’s impromptu lunch venue - The Fox in Penllyn

Anywhere you walk in to a welcome hug from @cook.ceri is always a bonus 😊

We enjoyed Chicken skewers with Miso Honey, Seven Spice & Spring Onion and Crab Mayonnaise with Potato Hash Browns to start. Generous portions of Juicy chicken with a sweet glaze and huge Hash Browns to mop up the subtle Crab Mayo were delicious pre cursers to equally generous main courses.
Crispy Lamb with Potatoes and a Feta & Cucumber Yoghurt was Sian’s choice - thumbs up from her for this 👍🏻
My Caesar salad was presented as a very large supreme of Chicken with a delicate tomato dressing and a super fresh salad.
The side of Garlic and Parmesan Chips were sadly a dish too far (eyes bigger than belly syndrome☹️) which also meant we didn’t even ask for the dessert menu😩

I can highly recommended the food and judging by the reactions from the adjacent tables which were also full of 1st time visitors there will be several return visits.
No surprise really with @j0hn_cook at the helm. 👏🏻👏🏻

I know I say it all the time but it really is such an honour and privilege to be your photographer.

Last weekend, I ran my Back to School Mini Sessions and there were lots of firsts and lasts - it was all very emosh.
Last picture in school uniform, first picture in Y7, last picture in Y6, first with sibling in uniform, the list goes on! Waaaaahhhhh 😭😢😭

So, I thought I'd do a deep dive into the archives to see if I could find some old and new images to share. I'm still waiting for some more permissions...

Now I just need to pin my own kids down for 5 mins and get their school portraits done!😍

What can I say about this place in the beautiful and charming hamlet of #cowbridge near #cardiff that hasn't already been said?

Two things; never saw cows nor a bridge!

All is forgiven with a little stopover @rocket.rye on the high st run by the magnificent @cook.ceri and some bloke ranting behind the hot lamps.

A simply delightful Friday night out. But not out out.

Exceptional cooking
Cracking little sharer plates
A feast for the eyes and all sense
A superb focus on #local #seasonal #qualityfood

Hard not to love.
Would give 11/10

An excellent reason to drive out of London and pop over the border to see #whatsoccurrin !?

Rocket and Rye never fails to impress.
Every dish on the latest menu delivers on all counts.
Juicy prawns with Garlic Butter, always a winner 🦐
Carrots with tahini and Chilli jam just 👌🏻
Hake in the lightest, crispy batter with whipped smoked cod’s roe was my dish of the night - delicious 😋
Fries with Parmesan and smoked onion mayo are a must.
Oh and those Chicken skewers with Kimchi mayo - so moreish
Broccoli as only R&R know how 😛
Make sure you leave room for the Sticky Toffee pudding with Butterscotch sauce and Ice Cream and finish with a couple of the chocolate bon bons

An endless supply of delicious, varied, seasonal dishes at @rocket.ryecafe
It's become a bit of a favourite place to visit and it's outside of Cardiff. After Bar44 closed, it left a culinary black hole on the high street of Cowbridge (and in my life). But John and Ceri have quietly turned up, bossed it and created a beautiful cosy restaurant and churn out some absolute sensations to fill that void. The service is always top notch, big love to Josh. There's no doubt about it, R&R have made Cowbridge infinitely richer and my wallet a little lighter ❤️

Highlights so far: pulled lamb on English muffin (lamb kebab vibes), hake in a lobster sauce, chicken wings, rack of lamb, truffle & parmesan fries, *Those* king prawns etc etc. The list goes on...
