POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

This time last week I’d just returned from an epic nine days in Zimbabwe.

I primarily visited to spend time with a very dear friend and we made the most of our time together and did what we do best - laughed and cooked.

We met at cookery college 40 years ago so it felt fitting we’d return to our first love and do it again. This time at a safari lodge on the Zambezi.

It was immersive, invigorating and hard work. Three days working in the kitchen in 40 degrees on my feet all day was a shock to my system but I relished every moment. It was great to know I still had it in me from my years of cooking as a job.

I’m pretty adaptable and like the heat so I coped well. But most of all it was the people that stole my heart. I haven’t laughed, smiled and felt so immersed for a while. It was all consuming on some days but somehow that made it even better. I even forgot to go for a wee for 10 hours, that’s unheard of for me, usually!

As we get older we recognise we create a portfolio of achievements and skills but equally we can overthink and imagine we’re not actually good at anything. We’re too old, others are more skilled and more talented.

I recommend taking yourself out of your current comfort zone and reconnecting with your self and saying ‘thank you, I am good at being ME’.

Yes, I’m back at my Madcreative desk, designing website flows and editing content, scheduling social, writing newsletters and discussing paid advertising campaigns. All quite tame really but enjoyable in its way. Life can’t be one long exciting rollercoaster but it’s great to experience life beyond our comfort zone every now and again.

Every picture tells a story

1. Outside our new favourite restaurant in La Santa
2. Last evening and playing with filters ( I was the muse ). The restaurant we chose was really disappointing so we were amusing ourselves whilst waiting for the escape taxi.
3. Eleven’s at Club LS. Refuel and recharge after a morning of activity and repeat.
4 & 5 Easter Sunday. Cycle ride and pit stop at an amazing cafe with the best Basque cheesecake and cafe con leche.
6. My frequent flyer reward - a perfect shot of the plane.
This picture also represents the incredibly annoying parents who insist on feeding their young children junk food before and during a four hour flight, ensuring they’re hyperactive and seat kickers. I have more to say on this subject of food and behaviour but I’ll save it for @cookwithlucyg
7. I missed our bed, and it looked perfect when we arrived home today dressed in pale pink linen.
Home is home after all ❤️

Mondays should always start like this……

Thought process:
🤔Before I begin my paid work first I need to make granola for my breakfast. The next 30 minutes is spent quickly creating the perfect breakfast granola because that’s what I fancy eating today.
Oven on, quick chopping and prepping and then miraculously a jar of freshly prepared granola for a yummy breakfast is ready, and of course a social media post too, and I’m ready to start my day & week!
Please follow @cookwithlucyg for more of my cooking antics 😌 thank you ❤️

How did you start your day today?
