Part one of taking Piper on an 11 day road trip to visit our favorite Kansans! 🩵 This was our first time visiting everyone together since before we moved to Asheville two years ago and it was long overdue! First stop was KC to see Amy and Steven and their kiddos, along with Ethan's bestie, Katie (and Chris)! Piper was the best road trip companion! She helped my niece conquer her fear of dogs and they were best buds by the time we left! My nephew was thoroughly amused by her pooping in the backyard. 😆 He's hilarious and absolutely precious. I helped Amy build a garden bed using upcycled materials (we're basically professionals now). We also visited the local plant/bookstore @monsterasbooks where she painted a mural on the wall! It's the cutest little shop if you're near downtown OP. I just realized Steven isn't in a single photo I took but I swear he exists. Anyways, more pictures of the rest of the trip to come!

I wish this was a real @hotdogdesignstudio project, maybe someday it will be… 🙂 As part of a weekend design course with friends at @hoodzpahdesign, I created a brand identity for The Rio Theater in O.P. It is an iconic landmark that closed during 2020 and has yet to re-open. But what would the brand look like if it did re-open? I kinda became obsessed. The Rio opened on Christmas day in 1946 as “The Overland Theater.” John Wayne headlined the show that day, and the theater thrived for decades. It has been a place for town meetings, a place for locals to unwind on nights and weekends, and its facade lit the street and sidewalks for almost 75 years. The logo, brand identity, and colors draw inspiration from the building’s architecture, from other Boller Brothers theaters, and from vintage movie titles and graphics. Every now and then, rumors circulate about The Rio re-opening… but at this point nobody knows. There is so much potential and I think the community is ready for a new era of The Rio. I hope the right people are inspired to rescue it someday soon. If any of y’all decide to buy it, give me a call!!!!! 🎥🎞️🤙 ⭐️ Shoutout to my friend @coolstevenn for the dope animations! He got pretty hyped about the project too. I love it.

I wish this project was real, maybe someday it will be… 🙂 As part of a weekend design course with friends at @hoodzpahdesign, I created a brand identity for The Rio Theater: a single-screen, 300-seat theater in @downtownop built by iconic architecture firm, the Boller Brothers. This is a hometown landmark that closed during 2020 and has yet to re-open. But what would the brand look like if it did? I kinda became obsessed. The Rio opened on Christmas day in 1946 as “The Overland Theater.” John Wayne headlined the show that day, and the theater thrived for decades. It has been a place for town meetings, a place for locals to unwind on nights and weekends, and its facade lit the street and sidewalks for almost 75 years. My goals were: - to respect the history, style, and architecture of the iconic building - to respect the role the theater has played in our community - to bring back the *magic* of the movies - and make something that is dope as hell for younger people as they move into our community Every now and then, rumors circulate about The Rio re-opening… but at this point nobody knows. There is so much potential and I believe the community is ready for a new era of The Rio. I hope the right people are inspired to rescue it someday soon. If any of y’all decide to buy it, give me a call!!!!! 🎥🎞️🤙 ⭐️ Shoutout to my friend @coolstevenn for the dope animations! He got pretty hyped about the project too. The Porter House EP will be releasing Thursday, March 28. It features several songs released as singles and one new song. I am forever grateful to be making music with my friends. Pictured in the album art is the Riverside house (The Porter House) I rented in Wichita where we recorded these tunes. Beyond recording, the Porter House was home to me for 5 years as I navigated being a young adult. It became a focal point for our little group as we jammed there, watched football there, and had some way too late night hangs there. It’s truly been a pleasure to encapsulate that time in these three songs. @aaronvplummer made the switch to guitar for this EP and absolutely crushed it, especially on Tiny Houses. Wyatt is an incredible lyricist and really shines on the keys and vocals. Jake (or one take Jake) is the secret weapon on the drums that elevates everyone. I played bass. This was a fun DIY project that I used to learn how to engineer, mix, and master. After spending a few years mixing, re-mixing, and re-re-mixing, I’m very happy with how it turned out. Anyways, I need a new project now, so if you’re a band/artist out there and want to record with me in KC, hit me up! Art by @coolstevenn
