You’re lifting weights, staying active, and taking care of your body, so why are you suddenly noticing leaks, pelvic heaviness, or dryness during workouts? Here’s the connection that gets missed: Estrogen isn't just a reproductive hormone. It's a structural one. Estrogen receptors line your pelvic floor muscles, connective tissue, and vulvovaginal and urinary tissues. When levels decline in perimenopause, those tissues lose collagen, elasticity, and responsiveness. That means a workout routine your body handled easily five years ago might suddenly trigger symptoms; not because you’re "getting weak," but because the tissue itself needs targeted support. How to protect your pelvic floor while staying strong: ➕Address local tissue health (localized estrogen and/or moisturizers nourish the tissue layers). ➕Work with a pelvic PT to coordinate your breath work and pressure management with heavy loads. ➕Keep lifting! Loading your bones and muscles is a non-negotiable for your midlife health. 💬 Have you noticed changes in your pelvic floor during workouts? Let's chat!👇 #menopause #womenshealth #pelvicfloor #liftheavy #womenempoweringwomen

This is my WHY. 💛 Our first year being part of the PSI Climb, and what a meaningful experience! As a mom, nurse, and IBCLC, I know how important maternal mental health is. Motherhood is beautiful, but it can also be overwhelming, exhausting, and isolating. No mom should ever feel like she has to navigate it alone. At LAFS, we believe supporting moms goes far beyond feeding babies. It’s about caring for the WHOLE mom — physically, mentally, and emotionally. 💛 It was so special to be surrounded by so many incredible women-owned businesses, all showing up to support moms, families, and one another. There’s something so powerful about women supporting women, especially for a cause that matters so much. And these three girls right here? They’re my WHY. 🥹 Why I do what I do. Why I advocate for moms. And why I believe every mother deserves to feel seen, heard, and supported. A huge THANK YOU to our wonderful hosts @bostonbirthvillage @soleowellness for putting together such a beautiful and meaningful event! It was so great connecting with fellow sponsors, meeting so many amazing families, and spending the day surrounded by people who share the same passion for supporting moms. 💕 @thelistwellness @coord_health @metrowestmoms @centralmassmom @essential.pediatrics @redfennelkitchen @postpartum_support_ma @psiclimbout @postpartumsupportinternational So grateful LAFS could be part of such a special day, and we can’t wait for next year! 💛 #PSIClimbOutOfTheDarkness #MaternalMentalHealth #WomenSupportingWomen #WomenOwnedBusinesses #PostpartumSupportInternational

Prescribed vaginal estrogen cream? Here are two quick important tips most patients are never given: 1. Ditch the reusable plastic applicator. 🙅‍♀️ Washing and re-using that hard plastic tube is a setup for bacteria and micro-irritation on already fragile tissue. If you need an applicator for internal placement, grab a pack of disposable, single-use ones online (they’re inexpensive and so much cleaner). Or honestly? Just use a clean finger. 2. Don’t restrict it to the vaginal canal 🧴 When estrogen drops during the menopause transition or with cancer treatment, tissue thinning doesn’t stop inside. The vulva, labia minora, labia majora, urethra opening. clitoral hood, and vestibule (the tissue right around the opening) need direct nourishment, too! How to actually apply it: • Clean hands, always. • Place internal cream with a disposable applicator or clean finger. • Take a pea-sized dab on your fingertip and rub it directly into the external tissues like lotion. Work it in to those external tissues gently so they can absorb it. Just like applying a good moisturizer to dry skin, you want to actually hydrate and nourish where it hurts. 🌚 Use at night, so it has time to fully absorb. (Always stick to your provider’s prescribed dosing!) Did anyone ever show you how to apply it this way, or were you handed the box and sent on your way? Let me know!👇 #womenshealth #estrogen #hormonehealth #menopause #womensupportingwomen
