Onto the last and arguably the most important apple in our blends; frequin rogue! These gorgeous apples give our ciders the tannin and depth that you see in Cider of the Arve, and our soon to be released Dolerite Dry! We are very lucky to be harvesting these at the start of each winter from the gorgeous @ourmatesfarm 🧡

A lovely afternoon on the side of a mountain, overlooking over the valley and Huon River, sharing a potluck picnic with friends as we sent off some very dear people. A perfect summer Sunday gathering at @lunchintheandes

See you guys next time ❤️❤️❤️beppe.persico @mandarin_fandango

(And quick note is that I then discovered that anyone can hire this little space with tiny house @lunchintheandes and host your own little valley gathering)

Last night we celebrated the solstice with friends old and new. We feasted, we caught up, some jumped into the cold river in the nude, while others of us bonded over a love of Brussels sprouts (and commiserated how they hard to grow), while the kids played in the dark. We are so lucky to belong to this community.

Solstice at the water’s edge.
The kind of night where it would’ve been quicker to paddle home than drive. You could almost spot my cottage just beyond the ripple.

I took the long, scenic route here (read: got lost after my phone died). I now sort of know all the back roads—at least in the dark.

Turned up late with six packs of lolly snakes from Woolies. Earned the title “Snake Lady” (undecided on that one).

There were very good Brussels sprouts—crisped in Fat Pig Farm sausage fat. Honestly, they deserved their own moment. Highlight of the night.

Some brave souls swam. Some of my photos didn’t survive. But the warmth, the pot-luck plates, and the people—every bit of it was golden.

Some early-picked Yarlington Mill from @ourmatesfarm for a new cider we will make from this beautiful site. Today we picked the ‘home block’, an amazing part of the orchard at the top of the hill near their darling pigs. We left with apples and our first share of Cor & Matt’s beef! Couldn’t be luckier to work with these people ❤️

Kingston Black ❤️ the first of two picks of this beautiful fruit grown by Matt & Cor of @ourmatesfarm. We will store these apples until the first day of winter, when we start processing this year’s Cider of the Arve! 💫
