BIRTHDAY INTEGRATION.

I finally had a moment to reflect,
the last time I had a birthday like this…

I was turning 16.
I can still feel it like it was yesterday.

𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘢 𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘮𝘦,
a new car meant new ways of freedom.

Freedom has always been a virtue of mine.

All I have ever wanted is the freedom to live my life in accordance to my wildest imaginations, unapologetically & abundantly.

This birthday felt similar.

It felt monumental.
It felt like a turning point in my life.

I would need an entire chapter of a book to put into words all the miracles that I experienced (which is in the works.. 😋)

Right before I left for my weekend trip,
I got to witness a butterfly come out of its cocoon.

What a symbolic representation of my present experience of life.

I’ve finally feel like I’ve broken beyond the mold
of 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘐’𝘮 “𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘦𝘥” 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦.

I’m leaving that part of me behind -
𝗜 𝗮𝗺 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁.

I’m here to live a life that is radical,
revolutionary, in love and free.

This freedom felt different though -

This freedom came through my body,
this freedom came through my expression,
this freedom came from knowing who I am at such depths and what I am here to create in the world.

This freedom came from 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣 𝙢𝙚,
& holy sh*t there is no greater freedom than that.

Shoutout to my soul family for supporting me in creating an unforgettable experience - I love you to the depths of my being.

We’re in it for lifey, baby.
& the magic has only just begun ✨

Part II of Austin - July 2020

☠︎ Learning the truth about mental illness & big pharma ☠︎

A year ago, a few of us were at @onnit for @fit.for.service, but we didn't have a traditional workout as you would expect in a gym. Instead, we went to an incredibly eye-opening workshop. In doing research for @aubreymarcus' new book, "Master Your Mind, Master Your Life," @erickgodsey discovered so much publicly available information on mental health & pharmaceutical companies (aka big pharma).

A few key things I learned that day:
🧩 in 1967, a hypothesis that depression is due to a chemical imbalance in your brain was put forward
🧩 over the next 15 years, 8 studies had been done which shows no evidence of this (but the next points are what happened to make doctors & the public think differently)
🧩 the FDA changed the law to allow big pharma to pay them to speed up the process of getting drugs to market
🧩 approximately 75% of the FDA's drug review budget is paid for by big pharma
🧩 the leading psychiatric association, the APA, changed the law to allow pharmaceutical companies to pay them to host symposiums where
🧩 big pharma pays leading psychiatrists to give talks to educate other psychiatrists. Caveat? Big pharma has full autonomy & final approval over what the psychiatrists say
🧩 over the next 20-30 years, almost all leading psychiatrists on any major mental disorder in the US were being paid by big pharma (The New England Journal of Medicine couldn’t find one who wasn’t to write an editorial on depression).

There is something powerful that happens when we come together in community...

Perhaps you've felt it during a weekend away with friends, or on a retreat with other, like-minded souls.

Community creates a sense of safety, it fosters authentic relating, and allows us to experience ourselves differently. It can expose our darker sides - our shadows - too. But with that foundation of safety, we are free to explore those shadows with full trust that we will not be ostracized, but rather embraced, challenged, accepted, and loved just as we are.

When we can feel safe in the company of others, we open. We expand. We listen more closely. We speak more clearly. We love more fully. We begin to realize that we have the power to create and express with more fire and more truth, perhaps even with a sense of ease.

As @babaramdass so famously said, "We are all just walking each other home." Home to the arms of our own, fullest expressions. Back home to our Self, so that we can begin to build a more whole and healed world... beginning within each of us, and rippling out into our families, our communities, and our world.

That's the power of community. Thank you so much for being a part of ours.

Quick story about MANIFESTING...

This morning I grabbed coffee with a few of the SoCal homies from @fit.for.service ...

@my_epicluv jokingly said “Sam manifest someone to take a picture”.
I said okay joking back, visualized it happening then let go of the attachment by taking this selfie you see here ...

Well, swipe 👈🏼 to see 2 more pictures.
A few minutes after we took this quick selfie a random dude came walking up to us seemingly outta nowhere and said “you guys are picture perfect. Can I take a picture for you?”

We all looked at each other and started laughing.

Remember friends, this is all just a dream. If you choose to accept to be a “Co-Creator of your life” you’ll be able to manifest the life of your dreams...

What happens when we honor our truth?

When we lean into the shadows?

Shine a light on the crafty ego?

Move past our feeble acts of self-busyness, social posting and other forms of self promotion to see what lies underneath?

What happens when we get still,

so still that our true essence of being has no choice but to rise to the surface?

Every micro moment throughout our time on this planet where we were picked on, neglected, unloved, invalidated-

those seemingly small moments, of which we have tens of thousands,

have been built and stacked to create an invisible fortress around our heart.

What happens when we open the flood gates?

The most beautiful thing happens, let me tell you.

In honoring our truth, ALL of it, we begin to burn the underbrush.

In acknowledging our pain, we break the chains that have anchored our soul to the ocean floor for decades.

What fills that newly created space?

Expansiveness.

Confidence.

Power.

Love.

Whatever you want.

When life seems painful, I implore you - lean in.

Feel it all.

There are SO many gifts waiting on the other side.

The last month had been the most emotional month of my life. For weeks I cried every single day, and in honoring that space - I’m still processing what has been the most powerful & transformative weekend of my life with my @fit.for.service family. Emotional purging created space for beautiful relationships to flourish, and new opportunities of every kind to emerge from the woodwork. Never have felt more inspired & confident about what is to come.

As we close out 2020, what is your intention?

For me it’s balance. Continuing to create & inspire - but from a place of service rather than from lack or scarcity. Honoring my body and leaning into rest and recovery.
