I made it to the Royal Academy Summer Show by the skin of my teeth on Sunday, the last day! The range of styles, techniques and subjects and the floor to ceiling display are always mesmerising (and slightly overwhelming)! As usual, there was much that caught my eye for positive reasons and much that did so for negative reasons! The first of the rooms curated by Eileen Cooper resonated with me the most, but here are a few photos, in no particular order, of some of the pieces/displays in the exhibition that I liked a lot.

Come visit my studio this weekend Sat 6th & Sun 7th June at @thamessidestudiosse18 open studios weekend. My studio is in Unit 8 (also known as the Telegraph Building) on the floor studio TB101 from 11 to 5. Lots of paintings to see and buy including smaller, more affordable pieces and studies. Card payments accepted so, if you see something you like, you can take it home 🏠 👍. There are many buildings full of studios and workshops, from painting to ceramics to hat making, musical instrument makers, woodworking, etching and all sorts in between. Lots of lovely people to see in my corridor including:

There are also amazing hats from Agnieska (I cant find the instagram link at the moment I’m afraid) and many more. There will be stalls with food and drink as well as the @busy_brewing_coffee with views over the Thames. Easy to get to by bus from Woolwich where there are both the DLR and the Woolwich Elizabeth Line Station or head towards the Thames path for a bracing walk along the Thames Path which ends up right next to the studios. I’ll do a little video later to show how to find my studio from the entrance. So pop along if you can 🤓❤️ #thamessidestudios #openstudios #paintingpeople

35 Year Anniversary Show - Cupola Contemporary Art
Established in 1991 Cupola remains one of the most respected contemporary galleries for the sale and exhibition of fine art & fine craft in the north of England. This year is our 35th Anniversary 1991 - 2026 and we think that’s bloody amazing! We are inviting artists old and new to submit to be part of our 35th celebration open exhibition. We wish to celebrate the diversity of work and talent of artists whose work we have had the honour of exhibiting over all this time.

Our 35th Anniversary show is open to everyone, whether you have exhibited with us before or not.

We welcome all sorts of submissions, but please be aware that this will be along the lines of a salon hang, as space is limited.

What this means is that although we welcome the submission of larger pieces, it will be much harder to include them.

We accept work in almost any medium, however all works must be for sale, so although installation pieces, text based works and sound are welcome, they must have a “commercial” element to them, whether as artist multiples or other media that is purchasable.

To make this special there will be prizes awarded during the exhibition. Details of the awards will be announced at a later date.

All works must be for sale.
