I VOTED!!! I thank my fellow Grammy members for considering PAINT THE TOWN & LIGHT LEAN

Thank you to the @recordingacademy for the experience. For providing a platform for so much creativity to be discovered. I found SO much music!! So much MUSIC. Really beautiful, fly, thoughtful work. My takeaway...? I have a hard time choosing what is the "best" because creativity is just what it is. And its all unique. However, it's a honor to hear, assess and support artists and our many expressions.

Thank you to my collaborators @mrwowjones
@dontmindifiduke and @jdoe. I love what we've done.

Thank you to our folk @youngrichandbored and @ohjazzy who connected the dots with intention. 💯

Thank you @creativecontrol06 for seeing us! Trusting us and elevating our platform. Light Lean is doing the do!

Last but not least, thank you to our Boss Academy team and my community of JIM$! You continue to build us up. ♡♡♡♡♡

Ps. IG would only allow 90secs of music to be added so I went with the original audio so you could catch the whole vibe. :)

Reposted @cornelio_austin 9th Grade.... 👇🏾- I remember when I first learned how to play "Lady" we used to loop this at church and "When We Get By". Back when Music had more than three chords! Majority of creators today don't know what it is to make timeless music mainly because they don't know who to study. D'Angelo was a student who gave tribute to the greats and for the generation who grew up on his music, we are all students and it's our job to also teach this next generation how to be great. Much love to his children and to all of us who are affected by this great loss. I'm still listening to these albums and just enamored by what I hear, the mix, instrumentation and spirituality. Long live. Mr, "How Does It feel" #fyp

#tbt Triple Nominated Threat!
@bjthechicagokid In My Mind Album (Best R&B Album) which I mixed about half of including the nominated Turning Me Up (Best R&B Performance) and Women’s World (Best Traditional R&B Performance). Love Inside and Jeremiah also amongst my favorites.
BJ is as talented as they come and a Renaissance Man bridging tradition and cutting edge.
An honor to be involved then and for the 4AM EP.
S/O @rexkrideout @cornelio_austin @chilottery for hooking it up @motownrecords
Great music by great people. Blessed in my travels

Nineteen years ago, back in 2007, before the election and before the world shifted, I was living in Los Angeles — a son of Chicago watching an underdog rise. His campaign inspired me so deeply as an artist that I wrote and recorded Season of Change. I was active on the Rock Da Vote campaign trails and performed with a group of amazing LA singers during sessions at the 2007 Democratic National Convention.
This week as the Obama Presidential Center opens its doors in Chicago, I’m reminded of that historic moment and audacious hope. Congratulations to President Obama and everyone who helped bring this vision to life.
Reposting the Season of Change video in honor of the opening.
