Join us Monday, October 26, for Island Editions: Preston Scott Cohen in conversation with Peter Eisenman. This extraordinary series was launched in Fall 2025, to mark the Gensler Family AAP NYC Center's move to its new permanent home on the Cornell Tech campus on Roosevelt Island. Curated and hosted by Cornell AAP faculty Peter Eisenman (B.Arch '55) and Cynthia Davidson, previous guests included Bernard Tschumi, Steven Holl, Nader Tehrani, Elizabeth Diller, Toshiko Mori, and J. Meejin Yoon.

Preston Scott Cohen is the Principal and Founding Partner of Preston Scott Cohen, Inc., an award-winning firm renowned for its new interpretations of conventional and non-typological forms and for its original approach to integrating buildings with their urban and landscape environments. He is the Gerald M. McCue Professor and director of the post-professional M.Arch program at Harvard GSD.

Once AI enters healthcare, the thing being tested is no longer just an output.

It becomes part of a dynamic relationship among patients, clinicians, payers, data, and systems. That means validation has to ask not only whether the answer is correct, but what the interaction changes.

My first internship came from a hackathon, not a job application. 👨🏽‍💻

As a student, I didn’t have a crazy resume or a bunch of connections. I just showed up, built something, and put myself in a room with people who were also passionate about tech.

That experience opened a door I didn’t even know was possible.

If you’re a student trying to break into tech, don’t underestimate hackathons. They’re an opportunity to:
💻 Build projects you can put on your resume
🤝 Meet recruiters, engineers, and other students
🚀 Find opportunities you might not discover online

Your first opportunity doesn’t have to come from applying to 100 jobs. Sometimes, it comes from showing up in the right room. (Also correction: *I emailed her)

I joined a health in climate ai hackathon hosted by my friend @chethans because I wanted to bring the medicine of moving meditation into technology development.

The challenge statements centered around becoming more resilient people by designing more resilient places and technologies but I came to ground us in our relationship Mother Earth, to bring us back into a harmonic state within ourselves so we can see what we may have glossed over in the past.

Our genius is in the reconnection of our brains and our bodies, it’s in the somatic, the felt sense, the why, the empathy that we feel in ourselves that allows us to create an exceptional product for another person.

When our nervous systems are unregulated we’re seeking safety, but when our nervous systems are in peace, we have the mental space to notice, create, connect, and design more brilliant more resilient possibilities!

So the @cornell_tech team brought me in to lead two sessions and we got such good feedback that we need this reconnection built into the busiest and most cognitively intense days to unlock our full potential.

I’m curious which conferences and tech transfer offices will want to invest in this next 🤩

🇮🇹🇺🇸 IO SONO FUTURO – NEW YORK 2026 | DAY 4 🚀

Una quarta giornata straordinaria, fatta di incontri, visioni condivise e nuove opportunità per il futuro dei nostri giovani.

La giornata è iniziata con un importante incontro istituzionale con il Ministro dell’Educazione dello Stato di New York, durante il quale ci siamo confrontati sui nuovi modelli educativi, sull’evoluzione della formazione e sulle competenze necessarie per affrontare le sfide di domani.

Abbiamo poi raggiunto Cornell Tech, uno dei più importanti poli di innovazione e incubazione di startup di New York.

Qui i ragazzi di Io Sono Futuro sono stati i veri protagonisti: hanno presentato le proprie idee progettuali, confrontandosi direttamente con i referenti dell’incubatore e ricevendo feedback immediati, osservazioni e preziosi suggerimenti per sviluppare ulteriormente i loro progetti.

La visita è stata anche un’importante opportunità per presentare Futuro Impresa, l’incubatore di Fondazione Della Frera ETS, e avviare un dialogo per costruire una collaborazione con Cornell Tech che possa crescere e consolidarsi nel tempo.

New York, giornata intensa, ricca di incontri istituzionali, confronto internazionale e nuove prospettive per guardare oltre i nostri confini e portare in Lombardia idee, esperienze e opportunità.

Prima tappa: Consolato Generale d’Italia, confronto con i rappresentanti del New York State Education Department dedicato ai temi dell’istruzione bilingue e dell’internazionalizzazione dei sistemi educativi per in nostri ITS ACADEMY.

Seconda tappa: Cornell Tech, nel cuore dell’innovazione di New York, una realtà straordinaria dove università, ricerca, tecnologia e impresa si incontrano per trasformare le idee in progetti concreti e dove i nostri studenti hanno potuto presentare le loro migliori idee.

Terza tappa: il Gala dell’Associazione Amici della Scala.
A chiudere la giornata, un appuntamento che celebra un’eccellenza italiana riconosciuta in tutto il mondo: il Teatro alla Scala di Milano e la sua Accademia alla quale siamo molto legati per la crescita dei giovani talenti.

Torno da questi incontri con una convinzione ancora più forte: il futuro dei nostri giovani si costruisce anche attraverso le relazioni internazionali che siamo capaci di sviluppare oggi.

This incredible @tikkunolammakers wheelchair was 3D-printed and specially built for Remy at @cornell_tech 2026 AI and Accessibility Summit.

As Remy gets bigger, lifting and carrying him around the house has become increasingly difficult. Supportive, mobile seating options feel limited; he’s starting to outgrow strollers, but we’re not quite ready to commit to the at-home options with a big footprint. And then there are the insurance issues. We were recently denied a handicapped bath chair after Remy outgrew his old one. We scrambled and miraculously found what we needed through an @angelashouseli equipment exchange, but unfortunately these scrappy types of experiences are too common.

We’re grateful to benefit from TOM’s global movement to create and share accessible, open-source solutions for underserved communities. Thank you for this beautiful chair—it will help us move Remy safely around our home and hopefully make visits at family and friends’ homes easier too!
