And the Emmy for best dressed goes to…

We came for the wins, but stayed for the vibes.  So proud of our film, our team, and our seat at the table.  Thank you to @theemmys.tv for seeing us.  And shout out to @championsdoc for being a stunning film by a wonderful and gracious team. 10/10 would lose again.🦋

What an honor to have Butterfly in a Blizzard ( @butterflyinablizzard ) recognized alongside so many powerful stories at the Sports Emmy Awards. While we didn’t take home the Emmy, this experience reminded us that recognition itself is meaningful — because this film was never only about winning. It was about connection.

This film was built on vulnerability… on sharing the messy, painful, uncertain parts of life that often don’t fit the version of strength the world expects to see.

Throughout this filmmaking journey, we were told more than once that this story needed a bigger name attached to it in order to matter… in order to succeed. But what this experience has reaffirmed for us is that human stories are enough. Women’s stories are enough. Real stories are enough.

Every person carries something invisible… grief, fear, resilience, love, loss, survival. And when we choose to share those experiences honestly, we create space for others to feel seen. That is the real power of storytelling. It reminds people they are not alone.

We’re deeply grateful to everyone who has embraced this film, shared it, supported it, and seen themselves somewhere inside it. The ripple effect of community is far greater than any single award.

My hope is that the ripples from this film encourage more people, especially women, to take up space, to tell their stories without waiting for permission, and to trust that their voice has value exactly as it is.

Thank you to our incredible crew - Tyler, Rose, Cody, and to my husband Chris Benchetler, our children, our families, and every person who walked by our side through this journey. This recognition means more than you know. Lastly thank you @aliceandolivia for the beautiful fit as always!! ✨🦋✨🦋✨

Making this film (@butterflyinablizzard) stretched me and stripped me in ways I never expected. The 7 year process healed me, allowed me to grow, and expand as a human. Motherhood became a catalyst for much needed change. It was vulnerable, raw, and real—capturing us in our best moments and our hardest ones.

Through peaks and valleys… through loss, grief, love, joy, fragility, strength, connection, and courage—our hearts were cracked wide open. We didn’t know how this film would be received, perceived, or understood. The journey through Matrescence is so different for everyone, and sharing ours felt both terrifying and necessary.

So many people helped shape this story— the co-directors, the experts, cinematographers, editors, EPs, story and music producers, Donna Carpenter, and my incredible family. Chris, Koa, and Zeppelin… you are in every frame.

But most of all, this is for my mom.

She was my foundation. My best friend. The one who believed in me before I ever believed in myself.

Seeing this film nominated for 2 Sports Emmy’s … she’s all I can think about.

She was so proud.
And I know she still is. 🤍

My mom’s mantra— which is the silver thread in the film keeps all things in balance. 🥹🫶

Pure joy is pure observation
Pure joy is mindful balance
Pure joy is total acceptance
Pure joy is peaceful completeness
Pure joy is loving kindness
Pure joy is right here, right now
Pure joy is loving myself in blissful awareness

When @travisrice asks you to compose a power metal *parody* track sung by a siren calling from the mountains of Alaska, u don’t say no ☠️

God bless a world-class athlete who still doesn’t take hisself too seriously 👹

Special thanks to @corr.rose for being the baddest edit queen and for going down this crazed vortex together, @sammieshreds for the audio engineering, guitar, and mix magic, and @samgunza for the sickass drumming.

As I wrap up the final scheduled screening of @butterflyinablizzard (with more to come 🤗), I’m filled with deep gratitude and humility. Thank you to everyone who has shown up—whether at a screening, by renting or purchasing the film, or by sharing it with others. Your support means everything.

Since we began this journey back in February, I’ve heard countless powerful stories from people who connected with the layers of this film. That connection—that feeling of being seen and understood—is exactly why we made it.

Sharing the raw, vulnerable parts of our life was scary and uncomfortable. But we hoped that by opening up, others might feel less alone through their own peaks and valleys. I never imagined just how deeply this story would resonate, or how it would help give voice to others’ lived experiences.

When I ask myself what the purpose of life’s challenges might be, I keep coming back to this: if we can share the hard, we can create space for hope, strength, and resilience—and through that, build more grace, clarity, and compassion for ourselves and each other. We’re all just human, finding our way toward becoming the best versions of ourselves.

This film would not be what it is without our incredible creative team: @flagshipindependent, @corr.rose, @codemangram, @lorabodmer, Dan Olsen, and Erin Leyden. And to our powerful mental health voices: @themotherhoodcenter, @aurelieathanphd, @paigebellenbaum, @dramberthornton, @drvivianzhang, @drcatherinebirndorf, and @thrivingwithbabychicago —thank you for bringing such insight and heart to this project.

✨🦋🫶✨ With all the love in my heart, thank you @chrisbenchetler and our boys for walking this wild, beautiful path of life with me. Your strength and courage continue to carry me forward.
