Happy 10th Birthday to A Dot in the Snow!
❄️🎈❄️

As soon as I heard the title and the concept for the book by @corrinneaveriss — the idea of a little polar bear spotting a dot in the snow, I was totally captivated and knew I wanted to illustrate it.

My initial brief was to do something “artful,” which as an illustrator was a real gift! It was such a special experience making this book with Corrinne, under the thoughtful guidance of Helen Mortimer and @iamkateadams at OUP.

I remember I had a weekend to do some pitch images for the book, I already had plans, so I rushed to see Judith Kerr do a talk on the Saturday. She was v kind to me when I spoke to her briefly and I dashed home giddy with inspiration. So I always felt Judith Kerr helped me on my way with this special book.

Thank you to the readers who are still discovering Dot or returning to the book every snowy season.
Happy Dot Day! : )

P.S - Corrinne sent me a link to this Björk track which she listened to whilst writing the book. It then became my soundtrack whilst illustrating it and we played it on a loop at our London book launch. : )

That Friday feeling!

Why have one Whizzy Button when you can have a WHOLE box? 🤍🐾

A portrait of Fluff, naturally.
