Grief has a funny way of creeping up on you. Sometimes it’s a quiet buzz in the background, and sometimes it’s a loud speaker blasting right at you. But the thing that I’ve learned about grief is if you don’t give yourself time to sit with it everything else meaningful in your life will tone down to a low and inaudible hum.

The last few years have been some of the saddest I’ve personally experienced. There have definitely been some amazing highs, but there has always been the sadness of what life is. Fleeting. From the road trip I took to rescue an old friends dog from the pound because my friend is missing, to the jarring reality that even the most wonderful of people fall ill, to the tragic and unexpected loss of a dear friend, and the realization that the ocean truly isn’t well. I just need to remind myself to sit with my grief and let it breathe so I can make room for the things that make life beautiful.

Photo dump of my Emerald Descent show at SAM Gallery and my Light Show party! I’m so very lucky to have had so much support in making this happen. The gallery let me install my underwater video installation, and played a short video about me and my process (beautifully shot and produced by @jmadler and @i.segebarth). And a big thanks to @nathie_katzoff_art for hosting my party and letting me take over his entire space. I’m so grateful that somehow we pulled all this off and that I had so much love and support along the way.
