Behind-the-scenes from morning at phool mandi picking flowers gathering little details and carrying it all back home for the evening we have been waiting for. Soon there will be flowers in the room music in the sir people sitting close and stories finding their home into the evening.

Gratitude Post

Some meetings have no logic, only destiny written on them. We met in a 10 minutes break between two recitals at Kamani auditorium. No numbers exchanged, just 2 strangers talking music.
Four months later-- in the intervening months I lost my two loved ones--a parcel arrives....6- yards of Indigo blue and a letter that felt like a balm.
For Teej, a woman waits for a gift from her maika. This time the universe sent it through a stranger who has become family.
@cosmicjogan you didn't just send a saree, you sent love when I needed it the most. Some people are not met, they are sent. Thank you for this magic Mahima!

Made slowly, naturally, and by hand. 🌿

Jheeni Dabu sarees are crafted using cotton, natural dyes, and traditional Dabu resist printing with a handmade mud-resist paste. The little variations and earthy colours are not imperfections, they are the fingerprints of the process.

No artificial perfection. Just the beauty of cloth made the old way.

भारत की सांस्कृतिक धरोहर:
अजरख🌿 प्रिंट और अजरखपुर की कला
स्वतंत्रता दिवस केवल एक तारीख नहीं, बल्कि हमारे देश की अनमोल विरासत, विविध संस्कृति और कलाओं के गौरव को महसूस करने का दिन है। भारत की इसी सांस्कृतिक समृद्धि का एक चमकता हुआ सितारा है—अजरख🌿 प्रिंट
(Ajrakh Print)। यह सिर्फ कपड़ों पर की जाने वाली छपाई नहीं है, बल्कि हमारे देश की मिट्टी, प्रकृति और कारीगरों के धैर्य की एक खूबसूरत दास्तान है।

अजरख 🌱 कला का जिक्र तब तक अधूरा है, जब तक हम कच्छ (गुजरात) के 'अजरखपुर' (Ajrakhpur) गांव और वहां की कार्यशालाओं (Workshops) की बात न करें।

साल 2001 में आए विनाशकारी भूकंप ने कच्छ के 'धमड़का' गांव को पूरी तरह तहस-नहस कर दिया था, जहां यह पारंपरिक खत्री समुदाय रहता था। भूकंप के बाद, प्राकृतिक संसाधनों और पानी की कमी के कारण इस कला के अस्तित्व पर संकट मंडराने लगा। लेकिन हमारे देश के कारीगरों का हौसला डगमगाया नहीं।

सरकार और विभिन्न संस्थाओं की मदद से खत्री समुदाय के लोगों ने एक नया गांव बसाया, जिसे नाम दिया गया—अजरखपुर।
कला की जीवंत कार्यशाला: आज अजरखपुर का हर घर एक कार्यशाला (Workshop) है। यहाँ कदम रखते ही आपको चारों तरफ सूखते हुए नीले-लाल कपड़े, लकड़ी के ब्लॉक (Blocks) की 'ठक-ठक' की आवाज और उबलते हुए प्राकृतिक रंगों की खुशबू मिलेगी।

आत्मनिर्भरता और 'Vocal for Local' का प्रतीक
आज जब हम 15 अगस्त को अपनी आजादी का उत्सव मना रहे हैं, तो हमें अजरखपुर के इन कारीगरों को सलाम करना चाहिए। इन्होंने न सिर्फ अपनी सदियों पुरानी कला को जीवित रखा, बल्कि इसे वैश्विक स्तर पर भारत की पहचान बनाया। यह कला पूरी तरह पर्यावरण के अनुकूल (Eco-friendly) है और 'आत्मनिर्भर भारत' का सबसे बेहतरीन उदाहरण है।
आइए, इस स्वतंत्रता दिवस पर हम अपने देश के इन हुनरमंद हाथों का सम्मान करें, अजरख जैसी स्वदेशी कलाओं को अपनाएं और 'Vocal for Local' के संकल्प को और मजबूत बनाएं। क्योंकि देश की असली आजादी उसकी संस्कृति और कला के फलने-फूलने में ही निहित है।
जय हिन्द! जय भारत!

Kabir teaches that external conflicts are a reflection of internal disturbances. By calming the mind and shedding the ego, one develops compassion for all beings.

We have known people, friends, families, strangers, and our own selves struggling, before this experience happens. It all makes sense and a sense of gratitude arrives, not gratification but just gratitude 🙏🌻.

As the day started with the arrival of monsoon rains here in Pekhri, it opened me the space to reflect on something so beautiful that remains within, eloquently silent.
