Welcoming Nicole Neroulias Gupte to Cyprus at the relatively unknown Efrosinis in the old town, a traditional little ‘dive’ run by two lovely Vietnamese women, serving excellent local Cypriot food.

🕊️ A new initiative for peace, reconciliation and cooperation in Cyprus

Last night, I had the honour of attending the inaugural gathering of the Cyprus Peacebuilders Network - CPN at the Home for Cooperation in Nicosia. I am proud to have represented peacebuilding NGO Cyprus Academic Dialogue - CAD, as well as Volt Cyprus (the island’s only bicommunal political party), and the Diplomatic Academy Cyprus - DIAC. I may have worn many hats last night, but the common ground was the vision for Cyprus’ future.

🙏🏼 A big thank you to my dear friend Andrianos Charalambous, the founder of CPN, for the personal invitation and for taking the initiative to create a platform that brings people together around a shared vision of peace, reconciliation and a better future for Cyprus.

Establishing spaces where people from different communities, generations and backgrounds can connect, exchange ideas and turn dialogue into meaningful action is more important than ever.

🎙️ It was a privilege last night to hear from four inspiring speakers, each bringing valuable experience and a distinct perspective to the discussion: Dr. Erato Kozakou-Marcoullis, Tümay Tuğyan, Anna Prodromou and Şadiye Işısal

💪🏼 Thank you all for sharing your knowledge, experiences and perspectives, and for reminding us that peacebuilding requires commitment across generations and sectors of society.

As someone who has long been committed to bicommunal cooperation, reconciliation and a reunited Cyprus, I firmly believe that initiatives like this are essential. Peace is not built through words alone, but through sustained relationships, mutual understanding, trust and the willingness to work together.

💜 I offer CPN my full support and wish Andrianos and crew every success in taking this important initiative forward.

Πάμε Voltες! 💜 Friends who become colleagues and colleagues who become friends. Some of the hardest working people I know who genuinely want the best for Cyprus. // 💜 Φίλοι που γίνονται συνεργάτες και συνεργάτες που γίνονται φίλοι. Thank you to the Slovak Embassy in Cyprus for hosting yesterday the October Subcommittee Meeting of Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot political parties.

Thank you Andri Christoudia Gumuskut for joining me to represent @voltcyprus at the meeting at the Home for Cooperation.

Thank you also to the Embassy of Ireland Cyprus for joining us and giving us the opportunity to hear from Art O’Leary about the wonderful work of the successful Irish Citizens Assemblies and how the civilian structure may benefit Cypriots.

Learning from international best practice allows us the opportunity to build towards a better future for our island and its people.

When the Dutch aren’t biking or running across Cyprus, they’re having a good chat about the work of the Diplomatic Academy Cyprus - DIAC and the world of Cyprus in a cafe inside a medieval gate complex (Famagusta Gate, Nicosia old town). Thanks for the coffee @petersrutger!
