10,000lb Club Lift Standards: @bridge_athletics

For a successful STRICT press:

* Both feet must remain in contact with the floor, a natural elevation of the heel is acceptable as long as the knees and hips are fully locked out.
* The athlete must begin with the bar under the chin in a racked position, the bar can start off the shoulders if mobility creates a block of range of motion.
* The bar must be lowered under control
* The bar must be locked over the head, showing control with elbows, hips and knees locked out under the bar.
* The athlete must press the bar to full elbow extension.
* The athlete may show a natural lean back prior to the press, but they can not show ANY bend in the hip or knee, this would be considered a no-lift, as well as showing a bounce of the bar prior to pressing. This will also be considered a no-lift.
-
For a successful squat:

* The athlete must unrack the bar and establish a controlled, upright starting position.
* The knees must be locked before the “LIFT” command.
* The athlete must lower the body until the top surface of the legs at the hip joint is below the top of the knees.
* The athlete must return to an upright position with the knees & hips extended.
* The athlete must remain under control until receiving the “GOOD” command.
-
For a successful deadlift:

* The athlete may use a conventional stance. Any lift with feet inside the hand placement will be considered.
* The athlete must lift the bar until standing fully upright.
* The knees and hips must be locked at the top.
* The shoulders must be in a controlled, finished position behind the bar path.
* The athlete must hold the bar until receiving the “GOOD” command.
* The bar must be returned to the floor with both hands maintaining control.

The Academy of Saint Elizabeth hosted its first-ever onsite “Sleep Out” event, in coordination with Covenant House. This initiative is aimed at raising funds and support for those who are less fortunate or homeless by having others experience what it feels like to sleep outside and with limited means.

Spearheaded by Mairead Naughton ‘28, several of our SEAsters slept overnight, in cardboard boxes and sleeping bags, right in front of the Academy building. In total, our young women were able to raise $4,500 for Covenant House, directly benefiting those in most need of charity.

We wish to thank our SEAsters who participated in this selfless experience, along with Dr. Azar for supervising the event overnight (with some additional security from a long-necked friend).💛💙🐾💤🙏✝️

Somewhere in Newark, a kid is walking to class with a new backpack. We sent our ONE AMERICA backpacks to @covenanthousenj , who support young people facing homelessness with housing, meals, job training and education. The kind of place where a backpack is not just a backpack. It is what you carry to your first class, your first shift, your first real step forward. So we sent the good stuff. Padded 15 inch laptop sleeve. USB charging port. Hidden anti theft pocket. A shell made from 14 recycled plastic bottles.

Covenant House wrote to tell us their youth love them, and that some had already started wearing them around.

Thank you @covenanthousenj for the work you do every day.

A few weeks ago, a herniated disc completely sidelined me.

It was painful, frustrating and pretty defeating. But I was also really lucky.

I had a home where I could recover, health insurance, access to care, a wife who looked after me, and an employer willing to let me work from home while I recovered.

Not everyone has that kind of support.
That’s one of the reasons I keep coming back to @covenanthousenj

On November 19, I’ll take part in my fourth Sleep Out at MetLife Stadium to support young people facing homelessness.

If you’d like to support me and this cause, the link is in my bio.

88 Sleepers. 21 teams. One purpose.

The Reinsurance industry gave up their beds last night in solidarity with youth experiencing homelessness. By spending one night outside, they raised almost half a million dollars to keep Covenant House doors open 24/7 for youth in New York and New Jersey.

🤔 What does someone have to do simply to survive? “Where will I sleep tonight? Where will my next meal come from? Who can I trust?”

Young people facing homelessness often grapple with these questions and nearly impossible choices that many of us will never have to make.

Over the years, I've joined more than five Covenant House Sleep Outs, raising money and awareness to support unhoused youth and survivors of human trafficking. The experience changes me every time.

🗓️ On Tuesday, October 27, we're hosting a Young Professionals networking event in New York City to connect and learn more about Covenant House New Jersey's @covenanthousenj life-changing work, and explore joining a team for the November Sleep Out: Executive Edition.

One night can never replicate the experience of homelessness, but it reminds me how profoundly different life becomes when our most basic needs—food, shelter, and safety—aren't guaranteed.

I keep coming back because I believe in the resilience and potential of the youth, and because I've witnessed what happens when committed staff, donors, partners, and volunteers surround them with the support and resources they deserve.

Interested in joining us on October 27?

📲 Message, text or email me by October 1 to receive an invitation. I'd love to connect you with the team.

Thank you to Jordan Santana from @covenanthousenj for leading yesterday's program on human trafficking and sharing some vital information - including how to recognize vulnerabilities, connecting individuals with resources and support, and the services offered by Covenant House.
